Forums - Nintendo - Capcom seems to have come around in terms of their Nintendo support

On Switch 1, their support was fairly weak. They did make Monster Hunter Rise, arguably the best third party contribution on the system, but outside of that their output on Nintendo's last gen machine was almost entirely very old ports from PS3/360 or even the 6th gen.

This time around, not only is a mainline Resident Evil arriving day and date with other platforms, but it already got the latest Street Fighter, (Switch 1 didn't even get Street Fighter 4, much less 5) as well as Kunitsu-gami, a current gen title, at launch.

Granted it's early days, but from what we have seen so far, it looks like Capcom are taking Switch 2 much more seriously than they did Switch 1, bodes well.

For sure and the same will apply from everyone else, and the main reason is the tech is simply more capable in relation to the other platforms that are being developed for.

Even though the Switch was a huge success, many publishers were not interested into putting a whole team on porting a PS4/5 game to the system over the course of 1year and the end result to being a shadow of the original vision and maybe not even passing 1m.

I think the S2 will still have a bit of a uphill battle in terms of keeping pace with 3rd party sales (Borderlands 4 for example), but I'm sure the RE franchise will do great on it, not least for Japan and how well the games scale down.

This is a repeat of what the demise of Sony's Vita meant for Nintendo. Back in the day (2017) a lot of people were oblivious to what kind of developer shift that would lead to. There were questions about how many games Switch would get, but it was actually a sure thing that Switch would get a lot of games. Many third parties simply had no choice but to support Nintendo if they wanted to keep their business as good as it used to be.

Now the demise of Xbox will do the same. The writing was on the wall since one to two years ago. AAA productions required three platforms (PC, PS, Xbox) to mitigate the risk of the high development and marketing costs, so now that one of these three is going away, it only makes sense to replace it with something else. And the need to replace Xbox also means that Switch 2 is taken much more seriously than Switch 1 was. It isn't only about technological specifications, it's also about the will to do it. Switch 1 was an afterthought, but Switch 2 is baked into the development roadmap, so competent ports/multiplat versions will become the norm rather than the exception.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

They could release the best game ever made and I still won't buy it as it will be a shitty game key card.

Yo! Noid remake coming?

Whenever Capcom comes up in relation to Nintendo i always think the same thing: Where is Megaman Legends 3? It would be such a great fit on any Nintendo platform.

Let's not forget the now superior MH series coming to the system in Monster Hunter Stories 3 !

It's just sad that they're still up on their physical shenanigans ...

Switch Friend Code : 3905-6122-2909

Capcom requested another analog nub for 3DS, which manifested in Circle Pad Pro and New Nintendo 3DS/2DS.
Capcom also requested 4 GB RAM for Switch which is insane to think Nintendo might've had Switch with 2 GB RAM.
They definitely have some sway with Nintendo.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Technically MH Stories was a thing even on Switch 1, but yeah, it's still support from them.

Calling it superior to the mainline series is a hot take, not a fan of Wilds I take it?
