Gonna post this one last time before I do write ups later today

50) Pyrite Town

  • Shadow is not a type in this series but it is an important mechanic in this game
  • The legendary "monster" on the cover is also a shadow version of it's usual self
  • A spinoff of the most famous monster catching franchise

49) You can power-up your power-ups in this old school racer

  • A fully powered speed boost will make you teleport forward on the track through a worm hole which as expected is completly busted
  • You can also build your own car and driver out of a famous type of blocks
  • This franchise is best known for teaming up with other IPs like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman and most recently Horizon

48) This licensed property is more known for its fighting games, but this one is a turn-based card game

  • You can spend your turn powering up
  • Or on various beam attacks, including an extremely iconic one
  • Spiky yellow hair

47) Now this is how you control a platformer

  • All you need is two buttons and a sound sensor
  • Collect banans by the tree-load
  • I can't believe Donkey Konga is better known than this game

46) Everybody knows you're only wanted as long as there are signs proclaiming it

  • Spin to win
  • The protagonist of this game was apparently considered OP in MultiVersus at launch
  • The tazmanian devil

Time for some new hints and a couple new games:

#44 - An RTS that becomes more of a 4x over time in space and in real-time Imperium Galactica, as found out by Mnementh

  1. With every rank increase, the playable part of the game world map increases, and with it what you can build and research
  2. The world evolves around the scope of the game very independently, meaning some factions may be eradicated before you get a chance to meet them in the storyline.
  3. You start with 3 planets (one of which bien in serious disrepair after an attack devastated the colony, it's also the reason you got promoted to this position in the first place) and a small fleet and have to fight off pirates at first, but later on you'll  deal potentially with a galactic world war if the AI is particularly agressive on that run.
  4. This DOS game with a Latin name is very hard to play nowadays because space battles are getting way too fast to control.

#43 - A base-building game where your handful of people must survive the end of the world, as hell has taken over.

  1. First you just need to survive, but after a while your group of survivors will do things like farming, crafting, both scientific and occult research, build shrines for rituals and an alchemic table complete with a philosopher's stone.
  2. Research needs sometimes some specific items that you can scavenge, as in scientific books, research kits, scientific data to progress in that tech tree.
  3. The more survivors you rescued and the more buildings you constructed, the more the forces of hell are aware of you and will attack your base more often.

#42 - A very long turn-based Fantasy game with clear influences at Civilization, Master of Magic and Heroes of Might & Magic.

  1. The game world consists of a planet that has been blown to bits to avoid the forces of chaos to take it over, and the main story consists of assembling those shards and combining them with yours to recreate the planet.
  2. This game has been made twice, once in 2D and then immediately they recreated it in 3D, although to this day with piss-poor performance.

#41 - AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH yourself! Serious Sam: the First Encounter, as found out by Mnementh

#40 - A Pinball game with 3 tables that would be pretty much impossible to make in reality

No. 45 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

When this released it was such a vast step up for FPS games it's hard to emphasis how much it changed things. It ignited the MP FPS boom for the masses and casuals and with a campaign so good it still holds up today and personally remains my favourite in a long series of titles as well as the MP mode being the best for me also, before things got too complicated and arcadey with over detail on maps and adjustments to TTK happening via patch as well as gun alterations makes practicing to excell pointless never mind shooting people around corners. Truly the best COD game and lightning in a bottle they could never quite capture again even when they rebooted it or copied the maps into later titles. A true gem.

Correct on both accounts

44) One of the Marvel vs. Capcom games I assume, maybe 2?

42) Super Mario Galaxy?

Yep.

45: Metal Gear Rising?

Correct!

One game still remains.

#45: Super Mario Bros. 3

  • The game that introduced the main villain's children into the series, though in later games this has been retconned and these days they are just the villain's minions.

#44: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

  • Some really brittle weapons in this one

#43:

  • The Core and the Arm
  • A four-thousand-year conflict between the two sides
  • A sci-fi RTS with a sequel that went with a fantasy setting

#42: A Plague Tale: Requiem

  • Even more rats
  • She really just can't catch a break

#41: Theatrhythm Final Bar Line

  • A rhythm game built around the music of one of the few video game series that could support an entire game with just its music
  • This was the first home console entry in the spin-off series, having had two handheld titles and an arcade release before this one, as well as another game based on a different series of RPGs

  • Spin to win

  • The tazmanian devil

49 is correct! 47 is wrong because it's...
