Dude try harder, you are literally trying to push the idea that Sony purposely underreported it at 155.1 million. Why report it at 155 million then and now all of a sudden report the correct figures? Also stop projecting your feelings, console warriors love telling other people what their feelings are. The reason for why people like you do this, is because your arguments are that weak and you are doing whatever it takes to defend your favorite company. You are taking all accountability off of Sony because you deep down know something is weird. Your favorite company are the ones with the hurt feelings because PS2 is about to lose that title. So I'll ask another question, if it wasn't important before why is it important now? 30th anniversary? The 500 million milestone was clearly a big deal to them in 2018, did they include the PS2s 155 or 160 million in that achievement? How was that not the perfect time to introduce the 160 million when that figure has to be included in your 500 million achievement? Im not saying they are lying but with them only adjusting the 160 and not the March 2012 date, things are looking fishy.

Dude try what harder? You are the one over thinking this. Did Sony announce 155m was their final total? Why was their figures of 158-161m floating around for years after? Even vgchartz had them at 159m. Sony themselves just announced 160m. Just get over it there's nothing you can do about it. You are the console warrior here getting all upset over a number. Maybe PS2 outsold the gamecube by over 130m that generation you still can't get over it. Don't worry you will never see that kind of domination ever again

Overthinking? Yes try harder, Sony did not annouce 155 was the final number, however they did annouce 155 was the number on March 12, 2012 so why is it now 160? So no the console warrior is the individual defending the obviously weird change and wants to talk about Gamecube instead of Sony possible dishonesty. Yet again a console warrior bends over backwards to bark orders at everyone but Sony, you should tell your favorite company to get over the Switch surpassing the PS2, there is nothing they can do about it.

Edit: You are correct we will never see that domination again because Sony will never outsell Nintendo again. Switch 2 will beat PS5 and so on.

It's not weird considering there been figures of 158-162m for years . Even vgchartz had it at 159m . Dude why are you all upset who cares if it's 158m or 160m it's still the best selling console of all time. Sony just announced it so stop over thinking it, its not like they would lie about something that's so meaningless. But you still haven't answered why there been figures of 158-161m for the past decade or so. It wasn't from Sony was it?

Did you really just say to me i still haven't answered your question like you have answered any of mine lol. Also you continue to tell me how I feel and how meaningless this is but your favorite company is the one that feels this is so important they needed to make the adjustment. Console warriors are something else lol, demand answers while dodging any questions asked of them and tell people how they feel like they aren't the ones bending over to shill for Sony.

I'll answer though, those are estimates by external parties because only Sony knows. The question is, if Sony knew in 2018 when they made an announcement, why are they backtracking and changing that number?

It is still the best selling console of all time, so I wonder why they want to move the figure up now?

What is there to over think? Accusing them of lying is a natural response to a company that obviously appears to be lying lol. It's ok buddy, PS2 was still a great console even if it loses its coveted title.

"Loses its coveted title". Oh now I know why you are so upset with the number. Now that Sony confirmed it you are afraid the Switch won't be able to surpass the PS2. Dam why didn't I think of it. Dude let it go. You are the console warrior here

PlayStation®2 Cumulative Production Shipments of Hardware (Unit: million)

This is from the official Sony shipments page before it got closed some years ago. Hmm strange but it's not clear to me what is the last line, it says new PS2 only, what is this means ? and the additional shipments after that 2007 March number is 43.99M. If we combine them with those 117.89 we get the 161.88M number or the maximum calculated range PS2 could reach - 161.9M. Does anyone know what is this (new PS2 only) sign means ?

Says the warrior shilling for Sony, but no I am already on record saying that figure isn't high enough. Switch ain't selling under 162. It'll hit over 153 in March 2025 and even with a 50% decline, it'll hit 159 million by March 2026. Now let's get back on topic and talk about when will Switch hit 160. In going with June 2026. What about you?

I'm only matching Pinkie's energy, but the backseat moderating is uncalled for because the end of my post says i am now getting back on topic. You literally watched him tell me to stop overthinking as if he is in my head and tell me im in my feelings just because I find it weird a company would tell us one thing and then change that number. As if I have to just agree that it isn't weird lol, it is certainly weird and reasonable for people to question them and their motives.

You can easily go back to 2006 or whenever and see that they mention new PS2 shipments as well, so it is clearly not the shipments after 2007.

My guess, it is simply the slim or latest version of PS2.

Shilling for Sony? First it was Jim ryan then Sony just recently announced it. Hitting 160m is cool I guess. Has Sony ever lied about total sales figures? I'm just questioning why would they lie about it especially the PS2. I don't think 1 or 2m would make any difference. If Nintendo wants the Switch to surpass 160m they could easily do it by keep making it for the next 3 or 4 years but I don't think they care as much as you do
