What are the install bases of the Switch and the PS5? I find it a bit surprising that the PS5 sells so well but software is still totally dominated by the Switch.

Outside of the typical great legs of Nintendo's 1st party, I'm pretty sure Nintendo users buy much more physical than the others.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Combining this year's numbers with their totals at the end of 2022 (from here) we should currently be looking at:

Switch - 2.842.850

PS5 - 771.800

(Xbox Series - 232.950)

So the Switch install base is still close to 4 times bigger than the PS5. Though I'm sure like Darwinianevolution said Switch gamers also buy more physical games in general, so that's probably a factor too.

Mario Kart has the physical leaderboard by the balls as usual. And the PS5 discount leads another good week of PS5 hardware sales. Kind of a bit lower than what happened during July though

Interesting to see FFXVI showing up in the top 10. Though here in NL we see the first minor discounts for the title, so perhaps that's why it's selling better.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

The first (and only) full week of the new PS5 sale kicking in there. Reminder that deal ends 7th Sept (halfway through next week), so I expect PS5 sales to drop a fair bit next week, and then drop like a rock the week after.

YoY changes for this week:

PS5 +92.04%
NS -43.53%
XS -30.59%

YoY changes for the first 8 months of the year:

PS5 +150.46%
NS -24.51%
XS -47.51%

Good to see FFXVI returning to the top 10 somewhere Europe. I hope it able to regain some momentum with price promotions and word of mouth, it deserves more than XV
