There seems to be some confusion about the Switch software domination but I not really that confused. Consider this:

There are roughly 10x as many Switch units out in Japan as PS5 units. Even if the PS5 outsells the Switch for most of the year I would still expect the Switch to move more software.

These type of comments about low physical sales for PS5 will probably continue for its entire generation.

Honestly as someone living in Japan right now, it is really hard for scalpers to buy the PS5, because most of the retailers required more hoops to jump through in order to buy one.

One requirement is that you can only buy 1 PS5 from one retailer for lifetime. So if you wanted a PS5 for yourself after selling it overseas, you would have to find another place. Do this 5 or 6 times and you are out of major retailers.

Do you have any idea why the physical PS5 sales are "low" in Japan, digital ratios are higher? Free to play games are the main thing? Japanese gamers only buy the console without games?

The best reason I can give right now, is that a sudden influx of PS5 stock doesn't mean that a sudden influx of old PS5 games would be shipped. Due to low stock the PS5 had limited shelf space in retailers, so it is not like they can suddenly expand that for all the Software released so far. The contracts for all the games shipped so far have already finished I assume.

So basically, they do have space for the hardware stocks but not for the software ?

I guess the PS5 is truly the Astro Bot Playroom machine in Japan/s

You think that because there are 10 times as many Switches in Japan as PS5s it should be considered normal that not a single PS5 game sells more than 4480 copies despite 76k PS5s with a disc drive have been sold in the same week.

The threshold for getting into the Top 10 this week is 4480 units. Usually a console selling like the PS5 should be able to cross that line with a few titles.

Yes I understand where you are coming from and over the course of the last few weeks we have seen a handful of PS4 and PS5 titles in the top 20.  But we have seen Switch dominating software for quite some time.  Obviously this has a lot to do with the lopsided install base   And the PS5 has only outsold the Switch for 2 weeks this year after months of not even reaching half the sales.

The PS5 is going to have to keep outselling the Switch before we regularly see games in the top 10.

Also we need more notable releases.  If you don't see Hogwarts in the top 10 next week then we can speculate further.

Do these charts cover digital sales?

Obviously these charts don't cover digital sales.

I can feel some agressivity here. Since PS5's stock are here, some people became angry.

This is weird. But nice to see Bayonetta 3 back.

The Xbox will increase in price by ¥5,000 starting February 17, it was announced on January 31. That is why it is selling well this week.

Also, Famitsu's numbers are not as reliable as Media Create's. The actual numbers are probably half of that.

1/2-2/5 - 2023

Media Create (Famitsu)

Xbox Series X 550 (1,357)
Xbox Series S 9,269 (17,566)

High digital rate, replaying upgraded PS4 games and PS plus extra is the big reason why PS5 games aren't on the physical charts. I'm speaking for myself of course I've playing many games on PS plus extra and also some PS4 games again and am currently replaying dragon ball kakarot with the recent free upgrade. I rarely buy games but when I do it's mostly digital
