Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu Sales: Week 52, 2022 (19 Dec - 25 Dec)

Regional Software Shipments

Switch must be close to selling the most software of any platform ever in Japan with 175.08 million as of 30th September 2022.
From the fiscal year data it is easy to work out Calendar year software sales and compare to Famitsu which of course lacks digital sales.

Switch software shipments per year (Japan)

2017: 9.81 million
2018: 20.52 million
2019: 27.01 million
2020: 41.53 million
2021: 44.32 million
2022: 31.89 million from 1st Jan to September 30th.

2022 needs 12.44 million software shipments from 1st October to 31st December to be Switch's peak year and with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet contributing around half of that by itself it should easily happen.

Every Switch Game over 2 Million Physical sales according to Famitsu

I swear we're still gonna get Switch games in the top 30 in like 2030 lmao

16 games and 13 of them are Nintendo exclusives. That's probably the reason Switch is selling that much.

People want to play BigN games, and the only option is the Switch.

Just seeing as a new IP like Ring Fit managed to get almost near the top of the list ... I sincerely hope this'll motivate the devs to actually make the sequel it deserves cuz oh boy, wouldn't it be funny if this franchise could explode in popularity even more than Splatoon did haha

I think Switch sales in 2023 will fall below 2019 in total sales, which is still not that bad and maybe close to what 3DS was able to sell in its best years.

Yeah, I'm expecting about 3.5M-4M for 2023. Saturation will slow the sales more and more by now.

According to Media Create, ps5 surpassed  series x(or s) total sales in December alone.

The tide has turned 😎
