It was some pretty lucky circumstances for both, I've never really played Octopath but I played the hunter in the demo and for Baldur's Gate I played it earlier this year so it was fairly fresh in memory.

Oh great! How did you like playing such an old classic in 2022?

Honestly, I wasn't super fond of it sadly. I think I've realized I'm not really a fan of games that build very heavily on DnD mechanics, they don't translate that well into video games imo. Kind of had the same problem with KOTOR though I did like the first one for it's story.

But well the writing was fairly good and I did like Minsc & Boo (obviously), so there was some good stuff in there.

It's also worth noting that I played the original and not the enhanced edition, not sure how big the difference is.

No guesses before so let's try to make these a bit easier:

15) Ultimate End
Hint 2: In a series known for long and elaborate attacks, this is among the longest

14) Honestly should have had IV in the title
Hint 2: Since it's not really a reboot

13) Both light and dark are your enemy
Hint 2: But only one of them commit genocide

12) The first thing you see in this game is the character that stalked you throughout its predecessor
Hint 2: And who was kind enough to offer you a job at the end of the first game

11) The original english voice actor for the protagonist is the one that's in everything, but they changed it for the remaster
Hint 2: And funnily enough the protagonist's name is very similar to another prominent voice actor

No one has guessed this, so I'll reveal it - it's Super Mario Sunshine

#21
- Not sure how all those birds have survived so long, seeing as water damages them.
Water is key to survival, yet if you shoot the birds, they turn into coins or Shines.
- If you beat 7 lots of 7, you’ll experience heavy flooding.
If you complete mission 7 (defeating Shadow Mario) on every level, Delfino Plaza will flood, and you'll have access to Corona Mountain
- Finding and keeping track of one of the collectibles can be quite a task.
A common complaint about this game is being unable to track which blue coins you have found
- The developer, often praised for their attention to little details, made sure every level felt connected to each other, as well as the central hub. It’s not unusual to be able to see one level off in the distance when you’re playing in another.
An example include Pinna Park being visible in numerous levels, including Ricco Harbour, Gelato Beach and Sirena Beach
- I don’t know why that creature suffers in water - we’ve taken him there in previous games without consequence.
If Yoshi falls in water, he will disappear, but in Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story, he was able to go in water with no problems.
- Pachinko and a poison pipeline drove some gamers mad
Two Shines that are often cited as difficult are the Pachinko machine one and the poison pipeline river where you have to collect red coins on the lily pad.
- Three of the above clues are linked by a common feature - a feature that plays a major part in this game from a popular series.
Water is the theme that links the clues - obviously playing a big part in the game

Well yes, the turn-based mechanics of D&D aren't to everyones liking. The ways to develop the story and build an epic adventure was new for the time and as I think is still holding up well. Something I miss from many current games is that you control a party, not only a single character. That gives more in group dynamics to story in comparison to a lone hero interacting with the world. Having a group of adventurers gives the writers the ability to show different reactions of different characters. I think it has become rare these days, as most turn to real-time action and it is hard to control multiple characters in real time. Xenoblade Chronicles and the Ys series manage this challenge and I think their storytelling is better because of it.

I loved LucasArts adventures and the first Monkey Island is one fine example of their great work. The game was designed by Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman and is a great achievement for them.

This great is not made with difficult puzzles in mind (although they can sometimes quite the brainteasers) or action and player death. The main focus for this game lies in exploration and just outright fun. The game has humour at each corner. Like the message after you poisoned the guard dogs. Or who played it might remember the red herring (which was an infamous item in one of the Zork games, as it had no use in any puzzle). Or the hollow tree stump which you can examine further. Or the guy who wants to be asked about Loom. And most importantly the time you learn sword-fight.

The premise of the game is simple: You play Guybrush Threepwood and you want to become a pirate. For that you have to overcome three trials. In the course of the story you also want to win the heart of Elaine Marley and then there is this rumour about the ghost pirate LeChuck!

The game is a classic and pretty much every adventure fan should experience this joyride. If you own an old copy, you can run it again with the trusty DosBox or ScummVM. If you need a copy, you get the special edition with beefed up graphics (which in my opinion miss in part some charme of the original) but also the possibility to switch to original graphics at diverse shops. Or you can play it in the browser at archive.org.

Not a single guess for this one yet, let's see if we can change that.

#15

-Earlier in the game, you get to decide the name of what is ultimately going to be the second boss in the final gauntlet

-Said boss is pulled from the main protagonist's mind by the villain

-For a series that has featured some quite unusual modes of transport, a moving Garden is still one of the strangest

-There are a total of three Gardens in the world, two of which become mobile during the game, while the third is destroyed in a missile strike

Final Fantasy VIII, I think?

Correct.

Next games:

#17: You play three characters, but the name of the game references two others you cannot play.
One of them is green, one purple. Guess which one is evil.

#16: Sorry to keep you waiting!
Although you have wings, the power of flight has to be granted to you and is still limited.

#15: Guessed by UnderwaterFunktown: Octopath Traveler

#14: Guessed by UnderwaterFunktown: Baldur's Gate

#13: This time the boy you meet and help is alive.
You meet your dad you learned in the last game is still alive, but he keeps to his research.

#12: Guessed by Darashiva: Demon's Souls
Sage Freke.

Let's add more hints:

Naturally first it has to drink waste water to grow arms to be able to rule the world.

#16: Guessed by UnderwaterFunktown: Kid Icarus Uprising
Sorry to keep you waiting!
Although you have wings, the power of flight has to be granted to you and is still limited.
Kinda like the ancient legend the game is named after. Although in that legend the limitation wasn't time but distance to the sun.

May be one of the best looking Wii games.
