I'm quite focused on the games I install and play start to finish before moving on, so the internal memory isn't really an issue for me. GoW I bought PS4 disc and paid for upgrade and it installed while I was driving home from work and it was already updated when I arrived =p (wife inserted the disc and put to install PS5 version).

The benefit of having a wife at home, I do not have such a benefit.

I'm currently looking  online at Japanese sex shops for a female sex robot that can be programmed for all the good stuff like sex. please ignore that, the stupid damn google translation algorithm for some strange reason equates all my Japanese cultural research to sex .

I've struck out the errors so it should now read better.

I'm currently looking online at Japanese electronics stores for a female companion robot that can be programmed for all the good stuff like helping with sex setup and loading new porn games having sex with me I mean playing co-op with me when nobody else will and also get me all those hard or tedious trophies that take ages to achieve, now if you or anyone else wants to join me in this endeavour just like my post and I will PM you for money.

What would disqualify Hollow Knight? It has a great story, deep lore, exceptional music, lengthy campaign with solid gameplay mechanics, hand drawn art style but somehow it shouldn't be considered because it's made by an indie studio?

Because its not the best at any of those. I dont know when that game came out and what its competition was. But lets say it came this year. Does any of those are better than the current big hitters like ragnarok or elden ring or horizon? Not even close.

Its not that its because its a small studio. Its rather that small studios dont tend to be competitive due to their limitstions. Its not that they cant, hellblade showed us that an indie can goe toe to toe with AAA. But thats very rare.

Are you even listening to yourself. This has to be the worst opinion I've ever seen on this site and I've seen plenty of absolutely moronic opinions on here. I'd consider hollow Knight nearly flawless, I honestly can't think of any major issues at all for it. Whereas with ragnarok I can point to the dragged out atreus sections, characters giving away puzzle solutions, inconsistent dialogue as some very major issues with the game.

Anyway indie devs are probably the only ones actually keeping this industry interesting, they're the ones taking actual risks and trying to push the boundaries of what can be done in the medium.

But GoW had a bigger budget and looks pretty (or something like that).

Joking aside I think the divide is simply preference.  Some people are more attracted to big budget games.  Others aren't.

My little brother hates indie games and hates 100% of what Nintendo Switch offers including their first party . He's into western First Person shooters like Call of Duty and Fallout on his PC and High Graphics I showed him Mario on Nintendo switch he said arent you a little to old for mario then I showed him Splatoon 2 he went to his room are angrily mumbled what a baby whispering while he was playing bad ass Call of Duty on PC like I was not in the crowrd I have a PC too but yeah. Love my little Brother Gen Z mindsets most of them are different than us especially likr saying the word bruh on internet? He hates Shmups and Fiughting games think those games are for dinosaurs and losers like me being top 3 leaderboards on shmups means nothing LOL. I do agree I get nothing in SHmups

I thoroughly disagree. Games like Hollow Knight, Celeste and Hades are just as deserving of a GOTY award/nomination than the The Last of Us, Mario Odyssey or God of War.

Should there be disagrement though? I say if theres discustion over if it belongs or not, then it dosent belong.

There can be disagrement over wich should win, but for a game to just say its in the runing everyone shoould just say yes that game should be in the runing.

I get that most prefer AAA games but to say indies don't deserve to be in the GOTY discussion is just a bad take. You should stick with your opinion of not liking indies and leave it at that.

I can't believe some people are non ironically defending that indie games, just for being indie games, shouldn't be in any discussion about the best games of the year/all time.

Who am I kidding: I completely believe it xD

By only giving that honor to the so called Triple A Games™, we would be creating a very restricted version of the history of the evolution of the media. Many games that are known for pushing the boundaries of what a videogame can do in terms of pure gameplay, storytelling or artistic vision ARE INDIE GAMES. Games like Papers, Please, Undertale, The Stanley Parable, Celeste, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Cuphead, Neon White, The Swapper, LIMBO, Minecraft... All of these games have something in common: they try something different. Not only that: some of them do things that no other games has done (or did when they released), creating gaming experiences that you cannot find anywhere else (specially not in the AAA territory) and ultimately, innovating and pushing the media forward. Things that the so called AAA games most of the times simply put... DO NOT.

It's a shame, because sadly, I've seen this twisted vision of videogames far more times than I would like. The mainstream has completely taken over the discourse and every time a God of War or a The Last of Us 2 gets released, we see tons of both reviewers and players praising the game for setting the bar for certain aspects (mostly story/storytelling and gameplay) when there are indie games that completely eat them alive and are far more innovative in those categories. Sometimes we are talking about games that came many years before them.

But hey: God forbid us from thinking that Undertale or Tunic are worthy of being called "one of the greatest games ever made". That can only be said about the 15th entry of that famous videogame series with 10+ milion sales for each entry.

Hades is better than 99% of AAA games.

Boy did this thread derail pretty bad, I believe you guys should take this discussion to another thread as this is about GOWR.

I think the issue is that he seems to be equating production value to quality.

I gotta tell you, I think I felt more emotion for the 12 combined pixels in all of Undertale than any modern AAA game. Yes, including Red Dead Redemption II and The Last of Us and all the other ones you're thinking about.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

I'm just starting the game now, jeez what a lot of settings, yet no way to skip cinematics! The beginning is the typical don't care, let me play first before you talk my ears off. I was not in the mood for a movie but guess I'll just have to wait until their done 'setting the mood'. Naughty Dog handles the start of their games a lot better.

Oh, I think I'm allowed to press a button now.

Hmm, can't find an FoV slider or how to move the camera back. I loved that from Tlou pt1, this low FoV and Kratos filling up a big part of the screen is not a nice way to play. Damn this game is hard to get into.

These settings... Any clue how to detach movement from camera direction, like any normal 3rd person game? How do you look behind you while running in the other direction?
