Rumor is the entire DLC is being outsourced to Bamco while EPD makes MK9. Everyone wins, except people that wished Bamco would make an original game.

You didn't really think that, did you? It's a subscription service, like any streaming service or Game Pass you don't get to keep stuff. Lol. I've seen so many people being confused about this. Like how? Why would you get to keep that? |
Well, there are subscription services where you keep some stuff:
But I doubt that Nintendo is that generous.
48 tracks pulled from past games does suggest that the next mainline Mario Kart is going to be a major reimagining of the series on a fundamental level. The old model of 16 new tracks and 16 redone retro tracks is being replaced with something new that Nintendo hopes will prevent fans from complaining when MK9 finally comes out and has a fraction of the nearly 100 tracks MK8 Deluxe will have when all is said and done. At this point I would expect it to not have any retro tracks in the base game, and for there to be changes to the gameplay that go far beyond the gliding, underwater, and anti-gravity sections of the last few games.

So it's still pointless to get the Expansion Pass? |
Is it pointless to subscribe to any service? I don't think it's pointless, I get quite some stuff for it, I'm just waiting for a few more N64 games to come and maybe they'll ad another console to it this year and more DLC.

I didn't know Amazon Prime had games included.
The only thing you get to keep from this expansion pass are the things you transfer to your island in Animal Crossing from Happy Home Paradise.

Those companies wouldn't be "generous" if it didn't require giving out freebies to get consumer's business. Nintendo doesn't need to, or at least doesn't feel it needs to do that to get consumer's business.
If they value their games more, consumers will value them more and be willing to pay more. If other companies value their games less, then consumers will expect to pay less or get freebies sometimes. Other companies have set that expectation to their own detriment.

I was a bit unhappy, as at first I thought that $25 apply to the first wave and each was priced at that. That would've made $150. But $25 for 48 courses is a steal.

Yeah and for us subscribers it's even better. My wife plays the AC NH DLC, I play SNES/64 games and will play this. The people sharing 8 accounts have an insane steal even compared to the value I put on the subscription for just my 1 Switch.

Well what's the point when the Mario Kart DLC is temporary when done through the service? -_- |
The main selling point isn't this DLC, it's just a bonus to make the package sweeter.
