Forums - Sales Discussion - PS5 Sales Top 12 Million - Global Hardware September 19-25

I wonder if Switch sales will drop below the PS5 before the OLED model launches? They're pretty close this week.

Also MS is going to allow the gap between Xbox and PS5 to grow past 5 million units year 1 O.o

The gap started with 1.5 million and now we're at almost 5 million. We'll see how long it will take until reaching 10 million

Likely because while MS is godly they cant magically produce series x/s out of thin air

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Wow, Switch sales are really dropping a lot as we get close to OLED launch. It will be interesting to see what first week sales look like.

Interesting number for PS5, sales are higher for Spain, UK possible flat/higher, Japan numbers are also higher than last week, and Best Buy had stock in store nationwide in the US on September 23th.

Still.. the numbers are only 5k higher than last week numbers....interesting.

Just wait what numbers will look like when PC 2 releases!

This is probably the closest (or one of the closest) weeks between the Switch and PS5 on a global level. I think the upcoming Switch OLED has an impact on that. There were probably tens of thousands of people worldwide this week that would've bought a Switch, but are saving their money for the OLED. If I didn't have a Switch, I would be waiting for the OLED.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Yeah we're in the rain shadow of the OLED model now. Some potential Switch buyers will be holding off for a few weeks to get that trendy premium model.

Switch is estimated at 91.38m, next week probably at 91.6m which will be the cut off for Q2 hardware sales, if we assume 2m on store shelves or in transit then we should expect around 93.6m shipments from Nintendo's Q2 financial report which would be around 4.6m for the quarter. Expected drop off from last year but Oled is going to give hardware sales a decent boost. Either way the Wii's days of being the best selling Nintendo home console are numbered.

Switch is maintaining very good sales in Year 5 at the same time the Wii was tanking.
