Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Hardware August 8-14 - PS5 and Switch Sales Rise

Switch really close to 90 million right now.

Wow, it's going to be close next week for 90 million or not. It's only 359k away.

Also, the next target for Xbox Series is the Dreamcast (8.20 million).

So Switch sales two weeks ago were indeed the low point. In the same week as last year, or so I was told. Nothing out of the ordinary for Switch, and no cliff yet, after all.

Switch is doing amazing, it'll be interesting to see how the LED model affects things.

If these current sales are any indication, OLED will do very well.

For the equivalent week in PS4's 5th (Nth Hemisphere) Summer, it was at 209k, so I think we can hold off on any proclamations of Switch's doom.

Again though normally nintendo consoles peak period are way stronger than sony's .. so this is not a factor for anything, cuz usually nintendo consoles also fall off way faster from the sony's consoles and also have shorter life. (Like I said usually, the PS4 and PS3 are exceptions from post successor sales because Sony decides so.) But again they still have long life. We will see for the switch but just because it is doing better peak numbers doesnt mean much. DS also did double the numbers PS2 sis but DS came shorter 4M of the PS2 total numbers  So this is not a factor

Again though, Switch is far from a "normal" Nintendo console.

Bottom line, 324k in August with no major release and a new model around the corner, in its 5th year, is not indicative of any kind of cliff or collapse.

No Switch cliff here, move along folks...
Switch is sprinting towards 100+ Million with a new model yet to release, and the festive season to follow shortly after.
Long reign Switch!!

That's the thing about cliffs. There is no build up to them, no substantial slope of any kind. One moment you are walking along, next thing you know you are plunging into the ocean choking on a tight corsett that your daddy, the governor, gave you. Cliffs don't give indicatings they are coming, they just appear. If we saw indications/patterns, it wouldn't be a cliff, it would just be a consistent decrease.
