Forums - Gaming - Rumor: Microsoft and Nintendo Working On Something

Interesting, maybe MS is looking for a developer to make Banjo Threeie, Nintendo would have some great options for an open world platformer. Though it would mean the game would need to launch on both Nintendo and Xbox/PC systems.

I'm not sure if they would want to bother internal studios to develop a game that would release on other platforms besides Nintendo's. They would have better luck asking Playtonic or doing it themselves. This is probably something about Microsoft wanting to offer some of their products/services in the Switch.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Hate to be the Debbie downer here, but it could be just that he's referring to his liking of the Switch. Though also what if the game pass talks are back up with Nintendo and Microsoft will bring their games that wouldn't run on the Switch through Xcloud though there could be too much negotiation for that to happen.

Now THAT would be an interesting move! Only games that aren't already on Switch would be on that Gamepass. Obviously Microsoft will have to make ports of their higher end games on Gamepass so they can run well enough on Switch (which would cost resources), but if they can grow Gamepass subscribers by even just 1 million, let alone the 5-10 million + I suspect they would grow from this move, that would all be worth it! I flippin' love Gamepass PC, and if I could also play the same subscription account on Switch for the extra $5 a month (to get Ultimate) I would TOTALLY do that!

Hmm, I think it would all be xCloud Tbh, I don't think Microsoft would want to go through the effort of porting natively but hey it should still increase Game Pass subs a bit, also as a primarily Xbox gamer but with a Switch I would love to be able to access certain Xbox IPs on my Switch using it as a handheld, better than mobile.

Could also be something as boring as Nintendo using Azure for some stuff.

Why would Spencer tease that he's the Xbox head, not the Microsoft head?

Rare Collection on Switch would easily do a few million, Halo collection has potential to hit 10m. Would be easy money for MS and a great marketing for their brand

Now that's an interesting proposition. I don't think this is going to happen any time soon, but just for argument's sake, how much would a Halo Collection sell on the Switch? Only a handful of 3rd party shooters have sold well on the system, and pretty much all of them have sold considerably less than the other versions. Not to mention even a straight port of the Halo Collection would be inferior to the XBOne version. With that said, it's still Halo, and the novelty of it being on another platform, and a portable one at that, would make people consider it. How much could it actually sell? I can see it selling a couple million copies, but certainly nothing close to 10m.

Take whatever Doom sold on Switch and add 2-4 million more copies sold for Halo. There has been far more demand for Halo on Nintendo devices and for far longer than Doom and look how well Doom sold.

Nintendo developing a multibrandplatform game would be truly one of the most shocking things in this industry lol. If they conclude their fans will buy lots of copies and that there is no other way to make the game than for it to also come to Xbox they may just do it. I kind of hope one of Retro Studios secret projects has been Banjo Threeie this whole time in combination with Metroid Prime 4. Maybe MS/Nintendo have been waiting until it's close to release before announcing it.

Heck, going forward after MP4, Retro could be the ones in charge of joint Xbox/Nintendo games. I'd be down with that!

If you have an issue with certain posts, then you have the report button at your service. But making a post with underhanded accusations of conspiracies of two fanbases at once (obviously without any evidence) seems to be the wrong approach in my opinion and could be seen as quite toxic. Please don't do that.

Its worth taking into account that Switch FPS' are typically inferior versions of modern games found on both PS4/Xbox. Halo does not exist on Playstation, so there's a huge audience who have no better version than the version on Switch. And the value proposition of so many halo games in one package is huge.

Aside from Halo 5, all Halo games would run easily on Switch and were made for less powerful hardware. This is actually a benefit in my eyes because where you typically look at a switch versions of a game and see being notably downgraded and blurry, there won't be a huge difference here. It'd look like a quality titles built around Switch hardware and you feel like you're playing the games as they were originally intended or better.

Lastly Halo's legacy is still massive and the collection will have nostalgia supporting it that other games simply won't benefit from. It being ported to Switch would not only create huge buzz, I think the recognition of the Halo brand on a device like Switch would result in a far more casual audience trying out halo for the first time (and probably buying an FPS on the console for the first time)

Everyone except Sony fans, when they use the Nintendo branding to obliterate PS in Japan.

As for the rest of the world, people always say, "people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games".  Just imagine if all those Switch sales were shifted to MS devices and services.  Seeing how it is the games that matter, why would they go anywhere else?

Yes, you go ahead and pray for it.  I am sure you would be happy with the reality of such an outcome.
