Sakuna is already the 9th best selling game by Marvelous in Japan and this is without even thinking about digital which would probably bring it very close to #1, no doubt I think the game will surpass 500K by the end of this year. PS4 version faced no supplies issues and it's actually the 3rd best selling game overall in the past 4 months on the system , so it should have 100K physical by the end of 2021.
Switch Q4 2020:
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin - 84.814
Switch Q1 2021:
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin - 32.244
It interesting that in the last months the only two games that have broken the Switch domination are COD, Cyberpunk 2077 and Sakuna, just the stark contrast between the three games. Two are made by teams of thousands and have the biggest marketing campaigns we've seen and the other one is made by two guys and Nintendo literally had to ask to get it on the Switch. In the last few years there is only a few franchises from third parties to surpass 500K, so this would be a put Marvelous on the map. Especially as I anticipate Rune Factory 5 to surpass 500K as well Olive Town to easily surpass 1 million. By the end of 2021 Marvelous will potentially have sold over 2.5M software making them a top publisher in Japan.

With over 2.5 million sales Marvelous would definitely be in the running for a Top 5 3rd Party publisher this gen. We shall see how things work out this year but they are in a very good position to see rapid growth
