Sure. But they didn't bought a system just to own it without games.

Wait, are you saying a considerable amount of people bought the system but no game? But yeah, 61K software sales overall. That is incredibly sad. Why are people so deeply invested into a brand, that they get the system without any game? |
It's not a new thing that a PS launch in Japan fails to achieve a tie ratio of 1.0 or better.
The PS5 has Astro's Playroom pre-installed, it's backwards compatible, PS+ subscribers can play an improved collection of PS4 games, you can use it as a media player, there are purchases for the Chinese gray market.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Scalpers buy the system without a game. |
Lol imagine using scalpers as the reason why people are not buying games.

Scalpers don't buy games, but I didn't say PS5 owners as a whole aren't buying games. Clearly digital will be higher at launch.

Good times when I bought the WiiU version instead |
Same, I didn't trust the Switch not to be another dust collector at first so I played BOTW on Wii U too. Ended up picking up a Switch in October with Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2.
Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

I almost cannot believe my eyes: all Switch products listed on the sign are actually in stock.
It is super crowded here now, too (245pm Japan time on Sunday). pic.twitter.com/ODxdviQVIj

December seeing bigger shipments than November isn't a surprise. What's up in the air is if it's still going to sell all out, because pent-up demand is hard to quantify. Plus the first party releases of this quarter won't be giving the system a real push, so it's a very real possibility that the long-running hardware shortages will be resolved in Japan.

no stock everywhere, lol. You will not find a Ps5 online, or in-store. Even in the US, you would be lucky if a big store would have more than 5 in stock, or have any stock at all. Every time they announce a stock, people would camp out and line up outside, more people than the number or actual stock available. In Japan, you would have to depend on luck and a lottery system to be able to buy a Ps5.
Next few weeks will be very interesting.
First time we would see how much Ring Fit can sell with enough supply, how much New Horizon can sell during a holiday, whether Momotaro will ship close to 1.5 million by Week 1 2021, how well Sakuna can sell with supply, and finally how much demand there is for Switch in Japan and can it be satisfied.
It's crazy that with digital Momotaro could be very close to the 2nd best selling game Konami has ever launched in Japan in less than 2 months since it's launch and the best selling game for them in 2021. That's just insane considering that this is only their 4th title on the system.
Wonder how much Winning Eleven or MGS could do on the Switch, there has been rumors for both games making their way to the Switch in recent months.
