38 - I think either Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour?

Almost, but nope, there was another.

Guitar Hero 1 and Rock Band both had master tracks, though. I mean, the Guitar Hero ones were only like indie shit, but it counts. I don't think the games phased out covers till Rock Band 2/Guitar Hero World tour.

Pretty sure Guitar Hero 2 already had official tracks and maybe even Guitar Hero 1. If you mean the first one to have only official songs, I think it was either World Tour or 5, none of which fit your hint. Anyways, here goes mine:

#38 - It's basically a sports RPG.

Golf story?

Hmm, seems to be correct that Guitar Hero II actually has a tiny handful of master recordings after all. Not nearly as many as III, but still can’t claim III was the first. Lousy hint then.

Runa216 gets the credit, because he knew World Tour was the first with all master recordings, but I meant Guitar Hero III.

Heh, when you're comin' at me for music game trivia, you'd best come at me as the best! (I was a huge player in the Rock Band vs Guitar Hero wars. I still play Rock Band to this day and just spent a weekend downloading 2000+ songs on Rock Band 4 on PS5)

Grandia II

Change YoY: -4

Grandia is another series of games that I got into years after they were originally released. I played the first game on PS3 after buying it on PSN, and then I played this one last year on PC, and I loved both of them. Grandia II was originally a Dreamcast exclusive, a console which I didn't own, and when it was later ported to the PS2 I just never even heard about it at the time. For that reason, the PC re-release was a very convenient thing for me.

While it is obviously visually dated, Grandia II is still an excellent game in every other regard. Well, the voice acting is a bit hit-and-miss, but that's to be expected to be honest. The battle system is great, the story and characters drew me in wonderfully, and Noriyuki Iwadare's score is excellent, as it to be expected. I'd like to get the chance to play the 3rd game in the series, which has so far never been officially released in Europe, but I have heard it is the weakest of the three.

Still no ideas? I give another hint for #37. And it probably is time for #35.

#37: Graveyard Keeper guessed by Kantor
Your first task: dig out a skull.
Said skull gives you pointers what to do next.
Plant and harvest crop, make wine and beer, give sermons, mine, craft, cook and in the DLC even run a tavern, but don't forget your actual job.
Your actual job is the name of the game.
A talking donkey brings you corpses, which are important as a resource and to improve your standing.

#36: Assassins Creed Odyssey guessed by Jpcc86

#35
First entry of a spinoff series to a famous RPG-series.

Okay, I'll make the hints a little easier.

37 - An iconic duo take some time apart as one (the bigger, furry one) focuses on his family and the other (the smaller, metalic one) on his career.

36 - Advertised as having revolutionary ("Radiant") NPC AI, which ultimately turned out to be so bad it's the basis for a meme format - this game's music over an awkward, stilted conversation. Well met? Well met.

35 - We couldn't figure out how to follow on from the last game's story, so we'll pretend you actually failed the campaign and Earth was conquered - and go from there. The newest entry in this series had a somewhat mixed reception (though I enjoy it) and featured the chance to team up with some of your former enemies to protect a revolutionary new city where humans and aliens live and work together.

38) Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings

Oh, the hours I spent on this game. I remember it looking almost photorealistic in retrospect. I was never much of an online gamer (then or now) so pretty much all of it was spent in the campaign modes, each of which I finished several times over. Not only were they a great history lesson, but building up a small town, getting incrementally stronger and crushing your enemies is just a hugely satisfying experience. It's a real shame the RTS genre has faded into obscurity lately - hopefully the new Age of Empires ever comes out and turns out to be reasonably good, though based on AoE3 I don't have particularly high hopes.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds

I don't have many friends that actually play video games. Actually, just one. And he only plays on PC. These days less than before, when we were younger, and only when I'm visiting I think. Back in the day he played Warcraft 3 religiously, and wanted to play with me. However he was a thousand times better than me, so I didn't like it. We went to Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, which would remain our go-to competitive game for over a decade to come. Still, we played as allies only.

The game is actually a bit of lazy effort in the Star Wars pantheon of video games. It is literally a reskin of Microsoft's Age of Empires II. In itself a great strategy game, so at least Galactic Battlegrounds has a solid foundation.

Never played this game or Age of Empires 2.  Might have to give it a try.  I like a good Star Wars strategy game.

Have you ever played Star Wars Rebellion?  I have very fond memories of this strategy game, but some reviewers at the time didn't care for it.  I just recently found out that some people love it and some hate it.  (I love it.)  I found this video which ranks it as the 13th best Star Wars game of all time (out of like 100 games).  So, I know that I am not alone in thinking this game is good.  But I haven't heard many other people talk about it.

37: Graveyard Keeper? I had to cheat and Google haha - never heard of it

35: This is probably too vague because it fits Mass Effect: Andromeda which nobody would ever put in a top 50

#37: I already assumed that might be Ratchet&Clank before, but as I never played any game in the series I did shut up. Now, I just guess which one. Let's say 3, that sounds like the one.
