I like the dark theme, keep this. But I feel that only working on the front page's CSS and HTML makes the actual forums stick out like a sore thumb. And yeah, the front page is just really cluttered and there's no um, clear direction that your eyes should move in. It's just too much to take in at once.

Also on mobile you have to scroll for a while just to get down to the topics, which I feel is one of the more important part of VGC. While it's nice to see the OP's avatar next to their topics, I feel that since the website is contained in a div that allows for ads to be displayed, it takes away real estate for negative space. Overall I think it's too busy and the forum design isn't cohesive to the new changes.

I know web design is difficult, especially if you're the only one working on it (I've been there) but I feel there's still room for improvement. I think if the designer is going back to the drawing board, keep negative space in mind. Think about what ideas aren't necessary to the design & usability of VGC, explore ways to use less real estate for news & articles while still being omnipresent meaning, maybe use carousels, scroll wheels, etc. And finally update the forum designs. If the front page is focusing on hard edges, modern minimalism, then the forums should too. Remove the round corners from the forum actions, enlarge those forum action buttons and update the forum icon to match.

This is going in the right direction, your work is appreciated, it just needs to be polished. And that's the beauty of art right? You can always improve.

Edit: Also, whenever I post in forums the line breaks/paragraph breaks aren't processing when I submit. Hence the edit.

Edit 2: Another issue that bugs me...the Global Hardware Totals. Like I get it, it serves its function but I think it's time for a redesign. Paper Prototyping goes a long way.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. There are bugs that either we missed in our testing or didn't show up until now. Once we fix the slowness, the next step are bug fixes, then working on suggestions from the community. As for the Global Hardware graph, we do plan on updating that as well as adding other new graphs for other parts of the site in the future. We just ran out of time.

A lot of us in the staff do agree about removing the avatars from the forums on the front page and are brainstorming ideas to make it a bit less cluttered.

Not a huge fan, but not terrible either. The front page is quite busy compared to what it used to be like, and I don't quite like the light theme on the front page anymore despite preferring it elsewhere (well, at least on the forums). Still, I suspect it's just a bunch of little things that are wrong. I haven't gone though too much of the UI, but I don't get the sense that everything's messed up or anything like that. If anything, considering the current trend, the refresh is a nice surprise. I mean, most UI overhauls these days mess up the PC experience because of mobile devices, and this one didn't? I'll take it. Whatever I don't like and won't get improved (in my opinion), I can probably fix with a simple userstyle (well, simple for someone who knows what they're doing of course).

Worse than before.I don't like that the thing you are mousing over in the buddy/profile drop down box is no longer underlined. Doesn't confirm that you're actually about to click on it anymore. It's a minor thing, but it's kind of annoying. I assumed that was remove because now clicking the whole box would take you to the thread, rather than just on the words, but that's not the case, so... why is it gone?

Here's a funny thing since you have some eye for detail here: Try clicking on a text in the buddy with your mouse wheel. Now try clicking outside a text in the buddy where you would expect it to open a thread. Notice a difference? Me too. Now I only click on the text, only it's not underlined like it used to be so it's harder to be sure when you're clicking on the correct thing. This is a very minor issue but it was one of the first things I noticed.

It's not the worst, but i find the layout pretty overloaded.

No probs, glad to hear some of these issues/designs have already been in the works. Looking forward to future updates.

Very unfair and annoying that you run this poll so soon, when we're trying to deal with a major slowdown problem that the coding guys don't know the cause of; that's going to completely cloud judgment on the changes.

It was bad before , now its just as bad but different 😓

I notice less ads , that is a good thing

It's ok but the ads are still enormously invasive. I mean, bro.

The staff was always going to lose this poll by default because the majority of people goes by "I was used to how it was, now I have to learn again how to find my way around, therefore it's worse than before."

I don't remember any major site update that was met with a net positive initial reception, so the current staff shouldn't worry too much about this poll.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I don't notice anything new there. The mouse wheel click is my default to open a new tab for each thread anyway. That still works, and it still doesn't do that if you're not on the text.

The underline is definitely gone, but I don't notice any difference in click functionality.

Yeah, it hasn't changed, but I don't think there was this hand cursor when you were not highlighting the text before. Now there's the hand cursor to signify the non-text part being clickable when middle click actually doesn't work but regular left click does. I guess this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine because I've noticed it relatively often.
