Forums - Nintendo - Why don't people talk about the Switch as much as Xbox or PS?

My YouTube feed is full of Nintendo Switch content.  I know that's tailored around my preferences, but it's content from pretty well known YouTubers and Twitch streamers:

Beatemups (constant Switch news, rumors, sales discussion) *former Nintendo social media partner
Jim Sterling (plenty of Nintendo and Switch references in general video game news)
Metal Jesus Rocks (Switch games recommendations)
Spawn Wave (constant Switch news, rumors, sales discussion)
RGT 85 (constant Switch news, rumors, sales discussion)
WULFF DEN (Nintendo Switch games and accessories reviews)
Ryukahr (Super Mario Maker 1, 2, and Super Mario 35 streams)
TheDragonFeeney (Super Mario Maker 2 and Super Mario 35 streams)

And even YouTubers with lower subscriber counts, but who are generally well known like The Immortal John Hancock provide Switch release news, and Mike Matei from Cinemasscre streams Switch games like Super Mario Maker 2 and Link's Awakening from time to time in between his retro streams.  I'm sure there are other popular names I'm probably leaving out.

Those studies were done in 2017, 2 years before Pokemon S/S was released when millions of kiddos bought a Switch to play it. And kids rarely read articles related to consoles. They just want Pokemon and Mario, and now Animal Crossing.

Kids play Animal Crossing? AC is probably the most adult franchise ever. Kids want excitement. AC provides a calm experience to power down after a hard workday.

That's a pretty big assumption on your part that somehow the demographic suddenly changed to have a majority of owners in the 18 under group because of Pokémon S/S. I've seen no data indicating this shift happened.

So among the three, you therefore believe that XBox and PS have the highest appeal among children and these children or minors love to brag endlessly that their console of choice is more superior, talking about specs, cpu, gpu, ram, graphics, ray tracing to let the netizens see who could "pee the highest" or farthest. And that's the reason why Switch lacks engagements in SocMed?

Yep, that is a good summation. As an adult gamer in my fourties, I way past peeing contests, that is somethign for teens and young adults. I also do not care so much about specs, than I care about gaming experiences. And Switch just provides the best gaming experiences for me (that might differ for people, but I guess most older people don't care as much about specs as about actual games). Plus, Switch has the most games of my youth, games from the last century like Baldur's Gate, Doom or Duke Nukem 3D. I don't see why kids would care about that.

Not saying AC is a childish game, but most certainly there is plenty of children playing (it sold about 20M already right?), maybe someone have the demography for it. But yes, his assumption that Pokemon, Mario and AC makes majority of Switch public children and that children don`t fight over consoles on the internet are both wrong. Nintendo is the family friend console, still we have a very strong adult userbase on it.

Because they don't want to.

I mean we wouldn't want to rub it in that we have the two best franchises in gaming.

If those Switch kids saw me in a nappy, it would force them to become real men- babies in a hurry .

Because those gamers are too busy playing games than arguing on the internet about which console is better.

There may be a little something to that...

I think the perceived rivalry tends to draw people out more to comment. Whereas Nintendo I don't think is perceived as a competitor in the same sense anymore. Kind of what we see on the forums where there tends to be a bit more aggro interactions between those fanbases between Nintendo an other fanbases. There's still a bit between Nintendo and Sony fans cause there's a bit more crossover in their market, but Nintendo and Microsoft fans kind of just ignore eachother from my experience.
