Whether they would launch this year or the next makes no difference to me. Buying consoles at launch is a bad idea in general as far as I'm concerned, so I'll get around to this next round of consoles about 18 to 24 months after launch, depending on the available games at the time.

When exactly was the last amazing console launch? I can't recall such a thing ever living up to everyone's hopes. The games are never amazing at the start of the gen, consequently we never see an amazing jump in the games we can play from one day to the next.

So, delay, or not. It's going to be the same situation next year, or whenever they decide to launch them. One thing is for sure though, you ain't gonna move many PS4s or XBones this Christmas, because everyone knows the new stuff is coming. With that in mind, it's hard for me to see the point in a delay.

I got my Switch for Christmas the year, but I'd have been fine buying it at launch. I was busy moving and didn't have the time or extra money.

LOL Speak for yourself! I'm beyond excited for the PS5 and what Sony has shown us so far.

The Dualsense and all of its features, the 3D Audio, the SSD with no load times. I think it has the potential at being the most immersive console ever made.

As for the games - Sony has shown us plenty to get us excited for it - Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon, GT7, Demon's Souls, Kena - and those are just the exclusives shown so far.

You know the God of War sequel is cooking, and I'm sure Bend has a Days Gone sequel in the works too. Can't imagine how big the hordes are going to be in part 2. Naughty Dog hasn't even stepped up to the plate yet (and their first PS5 game is probably years away)- but looking at what they were able to accomplish on the PS4 has me beyond excited for what they will bring us in the new gen.

Being backwards compatible with the PS4 is a huge bonus too- as I have over 250+ games in my library that will carry over. Will be great to go back to them - especially the ones with updated graphics and features. I also got PSVR out of the gate - so that will carry over as well.

But it's also the 3rd party games - that's the difference between Sony and Nintendo and what in my opinion makes Playstation the best place for home consoles. Great exclusives and the power to keep up with all of the big 3rd party games.

Sony could have easily pulled a Nintendo and intentionally held off releasing The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima for the PS5 launch like Nintendo did for the Switch and BOTW- but they didn't need to. They've got a steady stream of games coming out.

Cyberpunk, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, Black Ops, Star Wars Squadrons, Ghost Wire, Deathloop, RE8, Hitman 3, Farcry, Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad, Elden Ring - most of these games will be out within the first 3 months of the PS5 launch.

It's the unknown though that's got me excited the most. Will we see a Silent Hill reboot? A new Uncharted perhaps? A Bloodborne sequel? Or maybe something brand spanking new!

PS5 is going to launch in November and will sell out immediately. Just hope I can get my hands on one.

Each to their own I guess. So far there has never been a console that I've considered even close to being worth getting at launch. We got the Switch for last Christmas as well, and I never felt the need to get it any earlier.

Nothing amazing or ground breaking has happened in most new console launches since CD & 3D.it's mostly been about making things prettier and this gen isn't so much different. If we want to pedantic, we can argue SSD and what that could bring and possibly a huge empasis on audio, not that this didn't happen with the introduction of discs.

The article is trash. Nothing last gen at launch outside of KZSF looked wow. Even then the graphics were just nicer. So why the big whinging and whining this time?

It feels more like MS ain't ready possibly so let's delay the gen.

Had the argument been about how we are less than 90 days from launch and these companies are taking the piss with preorder info and price, is say fair enough, but if there is nothing exciting shown then maybe gaming is no longer your thing.

Journalists spoke about graphics last gen. Remember the whole craze about Ryse and how many individual parts the characters costumes are made out of?! Load times - remember articles about bloodbornes load times?

Tech wise enough has been said by both for gamers to be excited about. Only thing is MS hasnt shown anything to blow anyone away or down any credible / exciting game for launch.

The article itself is lacking excitement and a story and if anything, the writer should have delayed his non story to next year.

Nintendo systems are the only systems I’ve ever bought at launch. Nintendo is usually (not always) good about bringing their A-game to launch. Even then I haven’t bought most of them at launch. Wii, Game Boy, and N64 were ones I did buy, and if life hadn’t been getting in the way at the time, I’d have dove into the Switch day one.
