So ive been seeing a lot of the recently deceased people in the US are coming frim people who died last week but they're results just came in positive for the virus.

That you will see in the official results in many countries. It sometimes need some time and bureacracy until something is confirmed and finds it's way into the official statistics. Not only for deaths, but for infections too.

Ah my bad, Google tricked me. That looks promising for those under 50. It's quite a bit behind though. 2978 deaths currently :(

Here are some more overall statistics, but who knows.

Would you let your government infect and sequester your children for 2 weeks for the greater good, hoping there will be no long lasting effects, any complications will be treated and the chance of dying is less than one in ten thousand?

Italy's reported cases sadly went up again, thus my theory they had peaked on March 15th has likely gone out the window. 475 more people lost their lives today.

As soon as the schoolkids start mixing with each other again it could fly through them and we wouldn't even notice. Maybe it already has.

If the aim is to protect the vulnerable then turning their biggest hazard (asymptomatic, super-spreading, unhygienic kids) into super-shields is a good idea.

The government doesn't have to sequester anyone. Kids and their parents can have a 7-day camping adventure on school grounds. After the week is up, they go home but stay away from their grandparents for another 7 days. Within 2 weeks half the population is immune and the other half gets some herd immunity.

There is no proof, that some lasting immunity is even established after getting through the infection. So I really don't know why people get this idea.

You can find cross-reactive antibody reaction between viral strains that are decades apart, and sometimes that aren't even from the same clade but have a similar proteic structure. The absence of that sort of immunity is the very reason "virgin soil" epidemics have happened many times in the past.

So, the theory is sound, at least.

Seems the US's stores are at the point where we were a few days ago when the media started posting images of fully stocked shelves, stockrooms and warehouses plus the social media doing a positive job for once. Things seem to be cqlming down at the very least but I get the sense, both abroad and here in Ireland that we are witnessing one hell of an orchestrated effort between supermarkets, governemnts, the suppliers and producers. Can't wait to watch the documentary of this in two years and see what we in the public missed and what is going on behind the scenes, it must be a damn collosol effort to keep human stupidity and fear from tearing society down.

You're letting a horror movie basically live rent free inside your head, even convincing yourself "surely there's something rotten underneath the surface" everytime you see things that don't fit your pessimistic view. Calm down my dude. It's not a zombie apocalypse.

Next step, US - Canada border is closing to all non essential traffic. Trade will go on as usual.

WASHINGTON/OTTAWA (Reuters) - The U.S.-Canada border will close to nonessential traffic, U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted on Wednesday, saying details on the move would be announced later but that it would not affect trade between the two countries.

“We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected,” Trump wrote.

A Canadian source had earlier said the two nations were working on a deal to close the frontier to non-essential travel as part of the fight against a coronavirus outbreak.

Under the terms of the proposed deal, the flow of goods between the two nations - which share one of the world’s largest bilateral trading relationships - would continue.

So just trucks going back and forth soon.

Buffalo, NY ran out of materials to test people and now can no longer do anymore test.
