Forums - Politics Discussion - Why Jordan Peele is Unlikely to Cast White Lead: 'I've Seen That Movie'

No issues with anything Jordan said. Let him make the movies he wants to make with the leads he wants or doesn't want. I feel the same about any other director with who they hire. All I ask is they make a quality movie and the role fits with it.

Yes, let's go on those warped arguments that have same situation but different interpretation to basically summarizes that it's only racism when it's against black, it is only prejudice if not on white male cis religious person.

No. Some of us just don't think everything about race is racism.

It would not make sense to reverse it because white people have been over represented while its the opposite for other races.

A white only NBA is a different scenario. Peele never said that he wont hire white people.  There will still be white people in his movies but they just wont be lead actors.

Ow great, so a little less seggregational.

Would really fly well on a company to say "it isn't that we won't hire black people, we just won't put they on senior leadership roles, there is plenty of janitorial work for them to do"

But there are not a lot of black people in leadership roles so that would make no sense.

Because the color of the lead actors skin decides what kind of movie it is, apparently. Isn't that a slightly weird thing to suggest?

Would still be chosing based on skin color. One very clear situation of segreggation, prejudice and yes racism.

It's because apparently there are plenty of things only a white male or black male would experience, with 0 probability of cross.

The phrase "white dude" seems to be used almost exclusively by people looking to demean or attack whites. These people will never say "white man", always "white dude", even though they will always say "woman" when talking about, for example, feminist issues. I suppose it's because "dude" has a less respectful connotation than "man", but it's striking how unfailingly they will conform to this word choice. I personally now just write off anyone I see or hear talking this way, they have nothing of value to add to my life.

Of course there’d be outrage if someone said they only want white cast members. Hollywood is full of white actors. This is the IGN article all over again. He literally says he likes white dudes, but prefers diversity.

I’m a white dude and I don’t have a problem with people ignoring white actors to cast minorities. Whites have enough work to go around in Hollywood.

Have either of you seen Get Out?
