The biggest COD opening in Japan ever, up almost 40% over last year. I have a feeling second week numbers will be massive as well. Another record in the bag.

Call of Duty number 1, strong sales figures oO Spiderman in the next two weeks 300.000 (retail) in japan - impressive.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming, let's see which game from the West will be the most successful in Japan :) very exciting!

Here is the week 41 update in terms of the two big consoles in Japan's path to be able to reach the commonly stated (in these sales threads) estimates for 2018 sales (2 mil for PS4, 4 mil for Switch) .

TWS GD YTD % Goal AWN (Change)
PS4 25,472 -36,382 1,283,222 64.1% (+1.2) 65,161 (+3307)
Switch 44,070 -133,727 1,910,503 47.8% (+1.2) 189,954 (+12,157)

TWS - This week's sales
GD - Goal differential, the difference between the average week needed from last week compared to this week's sales
YTD - Units sold in 2018 so far including this week's sales
AWN - Average weekly sales needed to reach the estimate for the console.

PS4 pro pricecut leads to a decent bump but it doesn't seem like it will bring the PS4 that much closer to its goal. Switch is basically staying around the same amount of units sold each week and will likely hit 200,000 AWN next week.

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot the Pro had a pricecut.

Massive first week for Black Ops 4, Call of Duty seems to become more and more popular in Japan!

Nice little bump for PS4 hardware numbers thanks to the price-cut and the Black Ops 4 release!

Underwhelming PS4 sales considering price drop of pro. also I expect it to be a blip and will settle back into it's old sale rate.... If it wasn't the fact that holidays are approaching

While it will be telling later on if it was worth it, I will say it isn't a bad increase. Honestly anything that keeps PS4 up above 20,000 is a great thing at this stage. If in two-three weeks it drops below 20,000, ya it will be underwhelming.
