I haven't seen the end credits for MKW for myself yet, but apparently, Miyamoto is not credited.
He wasn't credited in Echoes of Wisdom either - Which was the first time a mainline Zelda game didn't credit him.

I knew the day would eventually come where he wouldn't be involved in the games anymore... But now it's actually here...

Damn.

You really think he's on his way to retirement already?

Not retire completely and altogether, no.

But clearly, his days of being actively involved, even if it was in a small capacity, in game development are behind him.

Miyamoto's priorities now are focused on works and projects beyond gaming like the movies, the theme parks, the stores they're opening up, etc. Trying to expand the IPs as much as possible. He trusts the newer, younger brass working there now to continue making great games. Plus, they still have some of the older guys like Tezuka, Sakamoto, Koizumi, Fujibayashi, and Aonuma to serve as the mentors. When it comes to game development, they really don't need Miyamoto anymore, and he knows that.

As a longtime Nintendo fan, Switch 2 really underscores how dramatically the company has shifted in the last decade.

This new console feels like it comes from a totally different company to the Wii U, 3DS, Wii, DS, etc. Everything from the design language to the materials is night and day different.

Even the new game cases are a bold aggressive design with bright red, as opposed to the blue/grey cases in the 7th and 8th gen.

Heck, even compared to Switch 1 their whole approach feels more assertive and high end.

This might be the first time ever (maybe besides SNES) where Nintendo is entering a generation with a solid sense of direction. Just keep making good games but now on stronger hardware. We don’t need PS5 specs; a beefed up PS4 is more than enough.

Any idea when the next Nintendo Direct will be?

Yeah while they definitely came out of the gates firing on all cylinders with Switch 1, it still felt like a roll of the dice for them, whereas this time they have a proven strategy and are confident in it.

Even with the console itself, Switch 2 feels more like they tried to best the original in every way. For example, they could have cut corners by leaving out features with raytracing, or going with a smaller 720p/60Hz display, but they didn't.

Nintendo allegedly sold 3 million Nintendo Switch 2 units within 24 hours.

Switch 1 sold 2.74 million in its first month.

I still don't know how accurate that is.

I don't think this is particularly unnatural, as it has been expected for some time.

[Bloomberg] Analysts expect Switch 2 to launch with 6-8 million consoles available on June 5th worldwide, biggest console launch in videogame history.

It probably would not have affected the launch, but there are already plans to increase production.

Bloomberg: Samsung's 8nm production pace is fast enough for 20 mil Switch 2's this FY.

So,Selling well enough to satisfy NoA president.

If it feels like the Switch 2 is going to be impossible to buy for some time, then I have some good news for you. As reported by VGC, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser appeared on CBS Mornings yesterday to talk about the console and its unprecedented demand. During the show, Bowser talked about Nintendo's supply demands for the Switch 2, noting that Nintendo has been "delighted" so far.

I had completely forgotten about the Chinese market, but reading the source, it seems as if the situation is unimaginable.

What happens when you add Korea and Southeast Asia to this list?

According to e-commerce website JD, which is offering Nintendo Switch 2 parallel imports from Hong Kong, the console sold over 400,000 units as of June 4, 2025. This is an increase of 70,000 units from late May.

It’s important to keep in mind that 400,000 units is the floor and not the ceiling for Nintendo Switch 2 in China, as we do not have sales numbers from other mainland Chinese retailers that sell the Switch 2, as well as sales numbers from Hong Kong retailers that export the console to the mainland. This means that the total number of units sold in mainland China are likely to be far higher than 400,000.

When the Switch 2 is about to become one of the most competitive market alongside the NA, Europe and Japan ...

Thinking on it, that actually might be the factor that determines how it could actually maintain a faster pace than the OG Switch, at least in the initial years.
