Not retire completely and altogether, no.

But clearly, his days of being actively involved, even if it was in a small capacity, in game development are behind him. 

Miyamoto's priorities now are focused on works and projects beyond gaming like the movies, the theme parks, the stores they're opening up, etc. Trying to expand the IPs as much as possible. He trusts the newer, younger brass working there now to continue making great games. Plus, they still have some of the older guys like Tezuka, Sakamoto, Koizumi, Fujibayashi, and Aonuma to serve as the mentors. When it comes to game development, they really don't need Miyamoto anymore, and he knows that.
