Well that's better than a country where Fifa is the GOD of videogames, like mine. Some thinks people here buy Ps because variety and all that jazz. Hahaha. Most of Ps players I know play only Fifa and Cod, but they play them on PS because they were used to play PS when they were kids thanks to the popularity of Ps1. There was a long period here where the name "La play" (the ps), was used as synonim of homeconsole even for consoles that were not ps. Just to give you a look of how heavily ps biased this country is xD

Well that's better than a country where Mario is the GOD of videogames, like mine. Some thinks people here buy nintendo because variety and all that jazz. Hahaha. Most of nintendo players I know play only mario and mario, but they play them on nintendo because they were used to play nintendo when they were kids thanks to the popularity of nintendo.

Yeah this stuff happens on both sides tbh, but i´m on the other side :(

I guess Nintendo doesn't have the nostalgia appeal either having not been particularly popular in Europe in the 80s and 90s.

This.

Europe isn't as sentimental towards the Nintendo brand, meaning that Nintendo consoles sell on merit alone. Their success is mostly dependant on how marketable their system and software is. Whereas in America their sales benefit from nolstagia and adults who are fond of Nintendo in general and are happy to have a secondary console where they only buy 1/3 games per year.

The reverse of this applies to the Playstation brand and is visible in the Vita's performance.

Well the Wii U doesn't have FIFA or racing sims, so it's doomed in Europe...

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I'd love to help but I don't want to buy a console that will be replaced by NX in about a year :/

I thought that was an issue only in the UK?

with exception of the Wii phenom Nintendo consoles have never done well at all in Europe. Even the NES and SNES did not make a huge splash in Europe. Europe did not take to console gaming until PS1. So where as many people in the US look back fondly at the NES/SNES as what got them into gaming in Europe they look at Playstation that way. Also it helps Sony has remained consistent from PS1 to PS4 with the type of content they push.

People forget Nintendo and Sega were very small in the EU.

Sure they made an impact in the bigger markets such as UK, France and Germany but to the rest of the continent they were almost non-existent, to the extent the comsoles were release by other companies under different names.

For most Europeans the PSone was the first console, they don't have memories of when Nintendo was cool, let alone now. Wii U... LOL.

thanks I didn't know about that.

I actually bought a WiiU at the beginning of this year specifically because I was craving 3D platformers. I missed my time with the N64, spending countless hours playing mario64, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooi and playing Lylat Wars 64 over and over again.

I played Mario 3D world, I loved it and then I realised there were no other 3D platformers. I dislike the 2D mario's and the constant remastering of them. I came for what I fell in love with in my teens and was left wanting. In the end I ended up trading my WiiU in as even Star Fox seemed miles away and different to what I wanted it to be.

I know I can download some of the 3D Mario games from the Wii, but in the end I want to play my Mario games with a controller and as much as I was dying to play Mario Galaxy, I couldn't bring myself to play a Mario game with motion controls.

I've got some simple advice for you. Stop being dumb and dogmatic, and get out there and play the best 3D platformer of all time.

Edit: The best two 3D platformers of all time indeed.

Its mainly for the same reason the Xbox doesnt do well. Playstation sponsored the Champions league for many years and had 2 very sucessful systems and didnt abandon the 3rd one. Their brand has mixed in with the culture here. To have a videogames console is to have a playstation.

I do agree though. NoE does a good job. Also, when they have a sale, the sale is up in the morning (if not midnight), when SCEE does a sale, it isnt until after noon that it comes up in the store.

That stopped being the case a few months ago. They don't just go up in the morning now, even better they go up at midnight (well..often 30-40 minutes after we hit midnight but you get the point). When Tuesday switches to Wednesday, i'm there at the store checking the new discounts, before anyone is even talking about them on the internet because hardly anybody is aware of this change. And many hours before it even shows up on psprices.com.

With time people will become aware of this

Sony. That is all.

:P

Honestly I think Europeans tend to prefer more mature titles as well as serious racers and sports games. Of which, the Wii U is severely lacking.

It is not about mature titles. Nintendo doesn't have the brand image in europe as in the US, as they had difficulty to enter the european market in NES-times. SEGA was stronger here and Sony instantly built a strong european brand with playstation by good marketing.
