How does it not make sense it's a format type that can store large amounts of data and even 3DS uses an SD like format, read what you just posted is that really more plausible and it's also nothing what the patent is hinting at. Updates already come with new games on Nintendo consoles if you don't have an internet connection and if someone has a poor connection how are they to purchase games in the first place what all of you are pushing here is not plausibe in the current day.

Yeah that's what the wording of the patent seems like. 

If you have a internet connection, download the game. No problem. 

If you have a bad internet connection, take your SD Card to Best Buy/Game Stop (whatever), they could have a simple kiosk next to the NX or Amiibo display and you pick which game you want from a touch screen and then it just quickly loads the data onto your SD card. Take the card home, and the game installs onto your NX HDD. 

It'd be easier in fact as the game data is stored on the HDD or the interal memory to be read when played, the actual format is literally just to hold data that will be stored internally. Solid state like formats are also read much faster then opticals like discs.

The mistake Nintendo made with third parties and Wii U was releasing a system very underpowered, it had nothing to do with the format.

Developers don't care about that, the PC gets plenty of developer support because it can run the games without much fuss, even though no one buys physical/disc based PC games.

Digital only really actually probably benefits developers ... now they don't have to give away $10-$15 of their profit per copy to the retailer/shipper/physical manufacturing costs.

They already stated there will always be a physical option.

If it was power, all these third party games wouldn't have been released on 360 and PS3. Which are both weaker than the Wii U.

Having a userbase matters too, but the Wii U did actually get a fair amount of support for its first year. The only huge third party IP it didn't get was GTA, and that's more to do with Nintendo's image as a Disney-esque brand. But if the system actually could run those games, I wouldn't really have any doubt that games like DQXI, Kingdom Hearts 3, FFXV, and others would be on the Wii U today. It's just too much of a pain in the ass to rework those games as ports and the upside to doing so is not appealling enough. 

Regardless, third parties absolutely would prefer a digital only format. If I'm running a cookie business and I had to share 1/3 of my profit for each cookie I sold and you told me I could sell my cookies and keep that profit, obviously any logical person would prefer the second scenario. 

Very intriguing information. My only concern is the screen on the controller, I hope this doesn't mean they're sticking with the Wii brand still...
