That kinda seems to be what the patent is hinting at. 

How does it not make sense it's a format type that can store large amounts of data and even 3DS uses an SD like format, read what you just posted is that really more plausible and it's also nothing what the patent is hinting at. Updates already come with new games on Nintendo consoles if you don't have an internet connection and if someone has a poor connection how are they to purchase games in the first place what all of you are pushing here is not plausibe in the current day.
