Those are different games and not part of this topic as I described how DS could be easier. I played DS and it was not the environment that did me in. It was the enemies and the punishing stats after death that did it. Also the non existant tutorial.

As for jumpnruns. Shovel Knight and Mario aren't even hard to begin with. Shovel knight even has added challenges to make it more difficult.

But to make those less difficult it depends. More checkpoints within the games, more lives, less damaging enemies. Make it run slower is probably a great help generally for all those slef moving levels. Those make it not impossible to fail but at least easier to succeed. And also will not affect game design in the slightest.

Sokoban is a puzzle. The only redeeming quality of a puzzle is the challenge itself or it wouldn't be a puzzle. So I don't see a reason for people wanting to play it other than challenge.

Mario, DK, DS all have qualities above just the challenge that are enticing to less skilled players.

Sure they are different games, but the point is, demons souls is different to other games too. I don't know about a stat penalty though, I only played Demon's souls. You lose your souls and get a penalty on HP, that's all. Does Dark Souls add a penalty to your stats too?

So, you say the quality of a puzzle is the challenge. But that's exactly the quality of Souls too.

Then they should probably remove all the useless graphics and music and lore too(which would be what I am playing the game for) if it is just about challenge. I mean if they just wanted people to play this game for challenge why not just make Sokoban 2? I don't think it's really possible to enjoy Sokoban for anything else than its puzzles. Though that could just be me being very close minded.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I agree! Games have gotten significantly easier over the years and we need some games that would give us a challenge in normal difficulty instead of pussifying every game just so the newbies can handle it... A game like this is known to be hard so you should only play it if you are up for the challenge otherwise, there are tons of other games that might fit your needs.

100% agree!!!

LOL. You wanna play Souls for graphic, music or lore?

Okay I'll just offer this nice randy pandy of a question to those that defend against diversity; Why can't every game strictly be like Souls?, I mean why can't we just do away with easy mode and every single game be on hard?, it's okay to defend just the Souls series so why not defend the common concept of "challenging difficulty" to overide every other game?, yes it's an absolute but this is where people are going when you defend a mere concept and claim everything else is shit and non challeneging "these days", why not grant your burning desire and screw every other possible option and reduce it to hard and nightmare?.

I already know a few answers that will probably be thrown up but don't throw them up, think outside the box or at least see where your answer leads you back to, ie what does granting your "challenging" desire do to everyone else?, think for a moment.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

You're complaining about people wanting easy/normal difficulty. You don't have the will to just hit Hard Mode at the start of the game? And move on with your enjoyment. It's not like the modes would be added in, and all of a sudden the game makers forgot how to make the series.

I like the fact that Souls doesn't give you difficulty. Like old Megaman games. You either suck it up and go through the challenge or you put the game down and go play something else.

Or they could also do like Catherine. Release a patch that introduces a "very easy" mode that literally makes you cheat to beat the game, because otherwise even on Easy the game kicks your ass

There shouldn't be a difficulty option because the games are meant to be challenging.

Seems rather contradictory to say that we want to make a game challenging by design, but we will have an easy mode.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I never played dark souls before only demon souls when i had a PS+ subscription and i couldnt beat the first level and didnt played it afterwards, like almost all games i got with my subscription. Neverless i think the game should be designed how the devolopers itended it to be and not how a certain group of people want it to be.
Best example i can think of
Pulstar released in 1996, its one of my favorite games off all time, and i never could beat it until this year. I couldnt imagine this game being made easier and still having the same experience, so i feel the same about bloodborne. And pulstar actually got a successor called blazingstar in 1999 which lets you start where you left off provided you have the coins or access to unlimted credits. While pulstar doesnt cares and forces you to start all over again at the checkpoint.
Blazzingstar feels like any genric shmup without any tactics or thought process. Pulstar on the other hand is a huge challenge but fair, one hit and you start all over again. Yet its a much better expierence than pressing A all the time just to stare at the good graphics.
Once you remove the difficulty of bloodborne the game could be another the Order 1886 or Ryse, good graphics but maybe too fast and too easy to beat? And no deep game mechanics as you wont care anymore because its not necessary to beat the game? Is that people want another Ryse or the Order which are viewed as not good games? It seems you never can satisfy people.
Also it is possible to beat souls games without any skill, on pc there mods and consoles have xploder and stuff.

Youre right every game should be like souls. I would like it much better, the games would be designed better with such a philosophy in mind.

definatley agree, this is a game that is meant to be challenging and i prefer they spend all there time balancing one game mode, than splitting there time trying to balance 3 game modes.

Easy mode is watching a play through on you tube.

Most games are already far too easy these days, even when set to Hard.
