Okay I'll just offer this nice randy pandy of a question to those that defend against diversity; Why can't every game strictly be like Souls?, I mean why can't we just do away with easy mode and every single game be on hard?, it's okay to defend just the Souls series so why not defend the common concept of "challenging difficulty" to overide every other game?, yes it's an absolute but this is where people are going when you defend a mere concept and claim everything else is shit and non challeneging "these days", why not grant your burning desire and screw every other possible option and reduce it to hard and nightmare?.

I already know a few answers that will probably be thrown up but don't throw them up, think outside the box or at least see where your answer leads you back to, ie what does granting your "challenging" desire do to everyone else?, think for a moment.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
