No... the average core gamers are not reading DF articles or other similar articles. Otherwise that type of content would have significalty more views. The masses do more reading of reviews than technical nuances.

I'm not moving any goalposts. 3rd parties aren't going to focus on making Wii U exclusives so you can boast about Wii U doing well at selling 3rd party games. Wii U needs to do well at moving multiplats to encourage support. That's what Xbox and Playstation do well and why they get great support.

Nintendo's mistakes are the primary reason 3rd parties moved away from Wii U. I mean 9 million units in 3 holiday seasons? That's pretty abysmal.

Those articles are then copy-pasted across gaming forums all over the internet, and word spreads. We live in a connected, informed world.

There's no reason third parties can't sell on Wii U. They just have to provide a product that is actually desirable. They can blame themselves for not providing that.

Those articles are only read by people who actually read about gaming. Again, the average consumer doesn't do that. Even if they read the articles many don't understand the technical nuances like you and I. You're simply out of touch with the average gamer.

I'll meet you in the middle. 3rd parties aren't providing Wii U with the right product because Wii U isn't providing an 3rd parties an audience with its abysmal sales.

I think that's kind of the thing though; Wii U owners aren't average gamers, cos they average gamer doesn't have one.

I feel like you don't understand that discussion.

I agree, most people will know about games through ads.

If Nintendo wanted their version to be the focus I guess they should have paid for advertising?

So it's Nintendo's fault that the third parties aren't advertising their games?

Well what games are we talking about? 3rd party is mostly gone and Nintendo didn't do much to prevent that.

Okay, lets just remember Vita has been bundled with numerous core titles. While Wii U is bundled with Mario, Mario, and more Mario.

Bundling has definitely been more core oriented on Vita, but as a system it hardly seems to have much appeal to the average core gamer, at least not outside Japan.

Well the average gamer knows the Wii U exist. Nintendo just hasn't done a good job at making them want one.

Nintendo's focus mostly seems to be its base. X1 and PS4 are aiming for a wider audience, not just their base.

But the point still stands that incorporating Nintendo into an established third party franchise won't guarantee success

I'd argue Vita primarily just appeals to core gamers east and west.

Games like AC, Uncharted, and CoD did fairly well because that's the type of games the Vita audience wants. While some of those same IPs went ignored on Wii U because core console gamers don't want a Wii U.

On the second, I agree.

On the first though, I still routinely run into people who don't even know Wii U exists or that it's a new system, not just a Wii add-on. Their marketing has been terrible in this regard.

The average consumer doesn't have interest in Vita. Its in the realm of niche at this point.
