Yeah, gamers have always read about which version is better. Does that mean the vast majority of gamers are reading that stuff? Nope. People on forums seem to forget we are not the average consumer.

Lego City was an exclusive so people who want to play it didn't have options outside of Wii U. Furthermore, a game like that obviously appeals to the Nintendo audience. What next? Are you gonna boast about Just Dance?

The Wii U is the actual fumble. 3rd parties didn't put much of a focus on Wii U because Nintendo failed to make people care about the Wii U. Nintendo has a lot of money I hear, perhaps they should have bought some ports to boost their userbase. In my opinion, Sony and MS are more involved with their 3rd party support because they care about that audience and Nintendo simply does not.

The kind of gamers who would buy those games are the kind who read that stuff.

And you're moving the goalposts. Exclusives still count. So do games that aren't drenched in blood and swearing.

Nintendo's mistakes don't dismiss the failure of third parties. It was still possible to sell; they just didn't manage to do so.

No... the average core gamers are not reading DF articles or other similar articles. Otherwise that type of content would have significalty more views. The masses do more reading of reviews than technical nuances.

I'm not moving any goalposts. 3rd parties aren't going to focus on making Wii U exclusives so you can boast about Wii U doing well at selling 3rd party games. Wii U needs to do well at moving multiplats to encourage support. That's what Xbox and Playstation do well and why they get great support.

Nintendo's mistakes are the primary reason 3rd parties moved away from Wii U. I mean 9 million units in 3 holiday seasons? That's pretty abysmal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the average consumer going to know about a game from advertisements?

So which platform are the advertisements focusing on? Was it the Wii U?

If people could tolerate CoD on OG Wii then I don't understand why the Wii U version was unacceptable. The Playstation Vita CoD has its own issues and still sold better than the superior CoD games on Wii U.

I think the OG Wii community became disenchanted and jumped ship to Xbox an Playstation.

A Wii multiplat and a Wii U multiplat aren't held to the same standard. Expectations were raised, and the games didn't meet them.

As for Vita, some userbases seem to tolerate weak third party efforts more than others.

But the Wii U CoD are higher quality than OG Wii ports. I mean they don't look like PS2 games.

The Vita simply has a more significant core audience than the Wii U. But that's because Sony actually tried to appeal to them.

There's no reason third parties can't sell on Wii U. They just have to provide a product that is actually desirable. They can blame themselves for not providing that.

I feel like you don't understand that discussion.

I agree, most people will know about games through ads.

If Nintendo wanted their version to be the focus I guess they should have paid for advertising?

Those articles are only read by people who actually read about gaming. Again, the average consumer doesn't do that. Even if they read the articles many don't understand the technical nuances like you and I. You're simply out of touch with the average gamer.

I'll meet you in the middle. 3rd parties aren't providing Wii U with the right product because Wii U isn't providing an 3rd parties an audience with its abysmal sales.

Okay, lets just remember Vita has been bundled with numerous core titles. While Wii U is bundled with Mario, Mario, and more Mario.
