Not that it makes much of a difference, but you're comparing 3 years worth of WW sales to 5 months worth of sales in one country.

iirc they sold around 24k on launch so they have only managed to sell another ~20k since then, which is just an incredible thought. Are we looking at perhaps ~30-40k per year here? |
Wow. The numbers make sense though, especially since PS4 is basically being positioned as the next gen home for non-Nintendo Japanese games.
I can see it happen, but I doubt it, because Microsoft has 1-2 Japanese game in devolpement.
They won't discontinue it, if for nothing more than avoiding the embarrassment.
I am surprised at just how badly it is doing. It's isn't even going to matchthe PS4 launch in lifetime sales by the looks of it
Has a precedent been set for this to ever happen? I mean a major console just pulling out of a major country like that?
Microsoft has made little effort past year in Japan and it shows, but hard to blame them. Say they did spend millions and managed to sell 100K this year, is that a better situation for them? They clearly are focusing on their strong markets and giving minimal effort to weak ones, a smart short term, but not so sure long term strategy.

Probably not. If only that MS is too proud to admit defeat.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I would suggest this but also make it western friendly.

If M$ cared about sales there, they would mark down the price to $299 and make a run at it. IF they did, maybe the sales would double or triple. If they tripled, they still have shitty sales...
So, leave it alone and ignore it.
It is near the end of the end....

Yeah, same day.
Xbox has never been and will never be a global brand.Even with the success of the 360 it was just the US and the UK.PlayStation is the biggest brand int he industry and remains so.
