Well it looks terrible. Linearity needs to go and qtes were always a godawful idea. It's a game that wants to be a movie, much like sony's other notable stink bombs , uncharted and the lat of us. Pass.

Yes, two of the highest acclaimed games of the last generation referred to as "stink bombs".

Gues it's too hard for some people to realize that some games are great, just not their cup of tea.

As for the OP. Qwark,I think you're 100% right. I don't see any way in which this game will be well received no matter how good it might. How dare they make linear, cinematic game with qte's!

Doesn't affect me from still buying it though, but I hope this game won't be the beginning of the end for new IP's which want to lineair and thus cinematic, with QTE's while it made games as GOW/Uncharted/TLOU great

its fantastic how linearity is now described as a flaw rather than a design choice. then people go and complain about not having variety.

It's the world we live I wonder if a new lineair IP could still suceed, judging all the hate the order gets form it's own fanbase I guess not. They hate the game for everything which made Uncharted and tlou a great games except the MP.

It actually just gets hated by the very vocal, yet very minor Internet fanbase that patrol gaming forums.

Real world is always much different.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Sounds like something from Batman.

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

It's because the media agrees with that train of thought, so it must be truth.

Me personally, I get bored quickly with open world games. I've always liked linear styled gaming. Only exception is with RPGs and even they can sometimes be linear if they choose to close off specific areas unless some objective is completed first.

Im eagerly awaiting my linear games like The Order and Until Dawn.

i enjoy a good game, doesnt matter if its linear or open world. however, i usually find that linear games are more polished and have better set pieces than open world games. they just can focus more on a small area and give you something amazing, then focus on a big area and give you something great. and until dawn isnt linear persey, considering it has multiple endings and you chose your own actions.

i love red dead redemption, i also love GoW and uncharted. deducting point of a game because of a design choice is the stupidest thing ever, yet it already happened with games like driveclub.

Linear games are not bad by default. The Order just so happens to be a linear game that looks rather bad from what's been shown so far (which is admittedly very little but...what does that tell you in and of itself?)

Note, they were also commercial successes as well as critical successes

I think it's refreshing to have a nice linear game. All the games I seem to be playing are open world games and without some variety, it gets a bit repetitve. I also want a highly cinematic game from time to time. I'm looking forward to the Order personally, esepcially with Ready at Dawn's PSP track record

QTEs can be good, if they're done right. Uncharted 1 was an example of how to do them wrong, as there are about 3 in the whole game, then you have a QTE boss at the end. God of War is how you do it right

Shadows of Mordor got good review scores despite the QTEs, but I guess since they were msotly constrained to the story that nobody cared about, it was fine

Good points. Also, didn't know that Shadow of Mordor had QTEs. I still think that if it is as cinematic as it appears to be, reviewers won't like it. Same with pretty much any game apart from Heavy Rain and Telltale games.

I personally prefer linear games (as well) and really don't like it when reviewers list it as one of the negatives of the game (then again as people actually read the reviews, they should be fine)

Linearity doesn't need to go.

You're right about Until Dawn, but it still looks like a game that despite giving you choices it does direct you on a straight path which brings you to those choices.

Either way I think it looks great. Cheesy, campy, gory horror fun.

same here, though reviews affect sales so I'd hate to see it not do well because of the three "flaws" that you mentioned.

Perhaps but the game is also being negatively previewed by the so called professional due to points I discribed (3 times by ign judging the same demo). And the game even gets hate on PS fanboy sites as Dualshockers, PSX sense, thesixthaxis I even found some negative comments on PSU. But perhaps it will do well and gets eventually praised by gamers and critics (if the game is going to be great ofcourse bur giving RAD reputation I think it's safe to give them the pro side of the doubt)
