Note, they were also commercial successes as well as critical successes I think it's refreshing to have a nice linear game. All the games I seem to be playing are open world games and without some variety, it gets a bit repetitve. I also want a highly cinematic game from time to time. I'm looking forward to the Order personally, esepcially with Ready at Dawn's PSP track record QTEs can be good, if they're done right. Uncharted 1 was an example of how to do them wrong, as there are about 3 in the whole game, then you have a QTE boss at the end. God of War is how you do it right Shadows of Mordor got good review scores despite the QTEs, but I guess since they were msotly constrained to the story that nobody cared about, it was fine |
Good points. Also, didn't know that Shadow of Mordor had QTEs. I still think that if it is as cinematic as it appears to be, reviewers won't like it. Same with pretty much any game apart from Heavy Rain and Telltale games.
I personally prefer linear games (as well) and really don't like it when reviewers list it as one of the negatives of the game (then again as people actually read the reviews, they should be fine)
