Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft Stock Gets Crushed after Abysmal Assassin's Creed Unity Launch

Black Flag was the first AC that i enjoyed in a while. I've had enough of the revolution type based AC games, personally.

oh damn, 76 aint bad, just avg but im guessing those bugs/glitches/etc is where the center of attention is at!!!

What's disgusting is that a game like this with all it's bugs scores one point higher then Destiny that might have had issues but didn't have so many bugs.

Glad ive been so busy recently i wasnt even aware it came out. :)

Death to Ubisoft

LOL! I don't even feel bad for them.

Yeah 76% isn't bad. Average would be 50%. So Assassin's Creed would be considered above average. Though the gaming market is pretty harsh.

No idea why people still say that. Just because 50 is in the middle of a 0-100 scale doesn't mean that a 50 is "average". 50 is considered as a bad game by most magazines. You may be right for movies but not for games.

IGN has after over 12k reviews an average score of 69 and they gave 4 points less as the average score for the same games was on Meta so that the average score for games seems to be at around 73. It also doesn't mean that most games are simply much better as "average", you just have to read reviews which have a score of 50 to know that this isn't considered an average game.

IGN

12,740 Games

Average review score: 69

On average, this publication grades
4 points lower than other publications.

so I think it's fair to say that 76% is pretty much a game you can consider as average compared to other games.

Nobody in the business of reviewing or who makes it their business to read reviews believes a 5 is average. That's just lip service. The scale tipped long, long ago.  7/10 or 70%  is the score you give an average game and it's been that way since the late 1990's. Thanks to sites like metacritic that value is actually rising as well. With so many sites overrating games, 80% is slowly becoming the new 70%, which is the real 50%.

I figured it was like the American public school grading system, where 70-80 percent is very much average, and 50 percent is downright trash.

wow to be able to shear 9% off the value of their whole company by showing just how terrible they are at dealing with issues in game development. Justice exists o/ .

Given Ubi's track record of poorly optimizing it's open world and 3D games, I'm hardly surprised. At first I thought it was just pushing out shitty Wii U ports, but now I know every console gets a buggy, half unplayable mess that should have never made it past beta testing.

Average would actually be in the 70s or maybe even the 80s. Since very very few games actually get scores as low as 50% the average would be a lot higher.

Because reviews scores are not done on averages. A 5 is mediorce, not average. The majority of games are not mediocre, so the average will be above a 5.
