DK: Tropical Freeze did almost exactly the same and is still sitting at under 700k globally and that's an established Nintendo franchise with decent legs...
There simply is no way of spinning Bayonetta 2's debut into something promising; but I won't fault the dude over at playeressence for doing so, it's his job, after all.

I still say TF didn't have much hype behind it compared to Bayonetta, even with the greater brand recognition.

How do you know if Bayonetta 2 had more hype than Tropical Freeze? You learned Japanes?

Khan, why people in here dislike Playeressence? They believe misinformations that either Blackb0nd or his friend ReviewtechUSA have said about Playeressence ? Why do people dislike/hate neutral sites like Playeressence which I have observed for a year and a half...? As if its like biased sites such as Polygon or Kotaku...

Just because its not mainstream and does not bash Wii U or Xbox One?

Wii U already overtook the Vita in the USA.

That is a ringing endorsement for Wii U sales-  considering the Vita is STILL ahead of the Wii U WW by about 1.7+- million

Considering its a handheld, its lead should increase and not decrease and hopefully its sales will increase...

I'm being ignorant and in denial? Don't make me laugh. The only ones being ignorant and in denial regarding this whole situation are the people trying to uptalk it "oh it's only 1 day uuh 2 days I mean (funny how playeressence corrected that) wait for a whole week","uh the market is different now (360 had less systems sold when the game released in Japan)","it's Nintendo it'll have legs" and all that bullshit is nothing but spin to try and cover up that Bayonetta 2 did shit in Japan.

Yes you are...

Stop with excuses, denial and ignorance...

bold; ignoring IGN I see when they claimed a full week of sales for Bayonetta 2 then corrected it

underline Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 had DMC 4 before Bayonetta which share similarities which help enstablish Hack N Slash fanbase/audience of its type...

italic Original Bayo had legs and 2 is being published and funded by Nintendo and is exclusive to Wii U

bold 2 you are jumping to conclusion and you took the bait of mainstream sites and their spins like with Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze... IGNorant...

Original Bayonetta had two more days and didn't had digital version available at launch...

We don't know digital sales of Bayonetta 2 nor how much it would sold with xtra 2 days... 1000 or even 5000 copies?

Cmon, keep up with lies

Quit your bullshit, it's unbearable.

First and foremost, I don't read IGN, I have no idea what they write.

The only person here that has been constantly in denial, using excuses and is being plain ignorant is you and the reason for that is either that you are part of Playeressence or have been almost brainwashed by their bullshit. That site is utter trash, I just checked it and they have 5 articles in the last 3 days only to spin Bayonetta 2 sales and to, which mysteriously is exactly what you're doing here, try and call out the other media outlets for their "biased reporting" on Bayonetta 2 sales, I see one biased site in this whole ordeal and it's not IGN.

That DMC part is nothing but spin once again, the Wii U had W101 before Bayonetta 2 and also Ninja Gaiden 3, both of which share similarities with Bayonetta 2.

At least go and check the numbers when talking about them, Bayonetta 1 had no legs whatsoever in Japan, that's a complete lie.

And again I don't read IGN, I form my own opinion based on the data we get every week.

Finally you try and play the 2 more days card again, which is fine by me, since we'll only have to wait till wednesday to expose it as the bullshit it is. And digital sales as well? Wow, that's seriously reaching at this point.

Btw. I find it funny how all the media outlets actually use the highest number across the 3 trackers, wouldn't the "Nintendo haters" rather use Famitsu (33k) or Dengeki (29k) to prove their point?

Poor The Wonderful 101

What I would like to know is, How many copies must it sell to make a profit for Nintendo?

I have no idea who or what Blackb0nd or ReviewtechUSA are.
It's obvious that the two only articles I've read there are written by an unprofessional fanboy.

http://playeressence.com/media-create-sales-91514-92114-smash-bros-3ds-top-the-charts-bayonetta-2-debut/
With claiming that it includes only one day of sales, he proves that the doesn't know what he's talking about.

http://playeressence.com/bayonetta-2-debut-sales-in-japan-are-7x-higher-than-the-wonderful-101/
1st sentence, cheap shot at PS4 - nothing to do with the topic at hand.
2nd sentence, accusing the readership of purposely doing or not doing something (quite a heavy accusation)
4th sentence, no source given for the lifetime sales
6th sentence, no serious writer uses the word "exposed". Only fanboys and conspiracy theorists do.
This whole article lacks logic and he doesn't explain his point. Selling 7 times more than a game that did horribly (pretty much accepted by anyone) in Japan, proves what exactly?

The Wonderful 101 sold like shit in Japan so..................hooray?

Common mistake, one of forum members in this thread said I lied that original Bayonetta had 4 days to sell when it released in its week, he said 3 days yet I proved its 4. He forgot to include launch day. I see this kind of mistakes every week. Annoying. He corrected himself in article below...

No its not - it does, re-read few times the sentence to understand the context of it. hint;double standards by mainstream media

2nd sentence, accusing the readership of purposely doing or not doing something (quite a heavy accusation)

Wrong... Not at readership, Mainstream media for its ignorance, inconsistency and lack of profesionalism...

4th sentence, no source given for the lifetime sales

Valid, he didn't bother to check and relied on his memory

6th sentence, no serious writer uses the word "exposed". Only fanboys and conspiracy theorists do.(Not true, a lot more types of people use it)

Exposed is used for Expose that ties to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Investigative_journalism and has become a slang

This whole article lacks logic and he doesn't explain his point. Selling 7 times more than a game that did horribly (pretty much accepted by anyone) in Japan, proves what exactly?

Why would he explain something obvious... It proves that its sales aren't bad from what mainstream want's their reader to believe...

Vanquish PS3 sold 47K in 3 days at 3 times the Wii U install base.

Underlined - So you only read two articles, you never contacted him nor never had discussion with him... You actually don't know him and you are jumping to conclusion yet you are moderator on this forum. Your opinion of him superficial/shallow so I can't accept it as valid and is matter of manners/credibility.

He is frustrated... Who would't on obvious BS clickbait.

Your denial is annoying... Your logic is flawed...  Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 released in very different circumstances and conditions... Don't be ignorant.

read this http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=131764628&postcount=1560

That's actually a fantastic post. It seems like some gaf posters have more insight on sales than we do.

He observed, he experienced and he has arguments with good foundation...

Tell me that you would't bought 360 version after experiencing PS3 version...

like owning 2 or 3 versions of the same game explaining the "high" sales of Bayonetta 1?
or that the genre is niche ? I mean it's not impressively popular, but certainly not niche.
Also the attach rate talk. So Halo Combat Evolved on Xbox (26%) did better than CoD Modern Warfare 3 (16%) on PS360?

I agree with waiting for US+European numbers though, but that doesn't make the Japanese numbers any better. And if we weren't able to talk about Japanese sales, why have Media Create threads?
