Notice how it is 21 games over 90%, yes, but how many total did the gamecube have that reached 90+? 26 games. That tells me the Gamecube was frontloaded with releases. It had a Zelda, Metroid, Super Smash Bros, and 3D Mario Game released within that timeframe. All of these games still have to be released for the Wii U, but will come - there is no question about it.
Also we weren't talking about sales explicitly (the original quote.) We were talking about which console deserves more sales (from a gamer's perspective.) Personally I find a game like Shovel Knight much more appealing and worthy of a purchase than Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 or Aggressive Inline. And a game like Ikaragua or XGIII: Extreme Racigin, if they were released today WOULD be eshop releases. So you really can't remove eshop games when they always existed, just as full-releases. If anything, the value is better with the cheaper price.
Also with the virtual console, there is no need for games like Megaman Anniversary Collection, The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition, or The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Master Quest (which received 80%+ scores.)
Honestly, when I compare the consoles, the only thing I really see is that the Gamecube had a lot of sports games, and for some reason sports games were much higher rated then than they are now. 47 out of the 78, 80%+ games on gamecube are sports games. I guess not being a fan of sports games, I have a bias in which I don't find the GC to be a vastly superior console.

Come on, how many of us do you think don't play FPS on PC with mouse + keyboard? Motion controls & dual analog has it's pros & cons, that's why motion controls haven't become the defacto way for most people to play FPS, and dual-analog has endured. |
No motion controls haven't become the "defacto" way to play FPS because they were only a standard on one platform, and the successor ditched them. It is an objective fact that motion controls are more accurate than dual analog. It is my subjective opinion that this leads to a more enjoyable experience.

Well, could you please kindly show us when people said that Uncharted 4, God Of War IV, Killzone 4, Resistance 4 were coming out in 2014? I mean, your post makes no sense at all.
Uncharted 4 got a teaser trailer late 2013, so obviously couldn't be expected to release this year.
God Of War: Ascenson came out just last year, of course God Of War IV couldn't have released this year.
Resistance is dead. There woul be no Resistance 4. Sony had already said that.
Killzone: Shadow Fall was a PS4 launch game. So people expected a sequel within a year, really?
I mean, your post really doesn't make sense at all. Why would people buy a gaming console only due to good PR behind it? Why would people expect the sequels which are sure to not come in 2014? Besides, there was no reason people would buy a PS4 in the expectations of tons of games, when all new gaming systems have a drought of games in there first year.
Btw PS4 actually has tons of games released or coming in 2014, much more than many systems in the past.
Either never, or at the end of the life-cycle.

Yes but releasing more slowly hasn't improved Wii U's chances. Will Wii U ever get more than 10 games over 90% in it's lifetime at this rate?
As for sports, people like them. They matter to sales.
Back in the GC years there was a big improvement in sports games going from gen 5 to gen 6 with better commentary and richer amount of animations. These days even when FIFA14 (meta 87) or NBA2K (meta 85) look & sound amazaing, it's just expected.
Everybody likes different games, that's why for sales, a console has to hit a spot with a wide range of players.

Again read the original quote. It was about whether or not the Wii U deserves to outsell the Gamecube from a gamer perspective. My recent point was that more than half of the games scored over 80% were of one genre (sports games.) That shows even less variety than the Wii U's, which is a common argument used against the Wii U ( a lack of game variety.) I personally see the GC and Wii U in the same boat. My initial confusion was with the newfound nostalgia the GC has been getting as some sort of excellent console, and that the Wii U doesn't deserve to match it. Back then, the Gamecube was the console with the least third party support (like the Wii U) and the least variety (like the Wii U.)

The only way I see myself eating those words if they somehow manage to tap into casual market in 2015 with a 199 price tag, Mario Kart and a ton of family orientated games which utilise the gamepad and wii mote. |
Zelda U? Swan song? Yeah, sure!

As you seem to like no sports, you're bundling them into one category, but it's not 47 of one game, it's yearly releases in a variety of sports.

wow, you are really underestimating the power of pr. yes, people are buying ps4 mainly because of all that shit that happened last year. ms shot themselves in the foot and sony hella took advantage of it. that has A LOT to do with how sales turned out. microsofts blunders determined a lot. youre living in a dream world if you think all these people are buying a ps4 because it has a dominant library of games. thats not what is going on right now lol.
