Of course not. Neither Bayonetta nor Hyrule Warriors will be system sellers. Maybe in Japan they will help sell the Wii U but no where else.

In certain that it was more hyped than a 100k seller usually is.

Bayonetta 1 was a niche game that was barely promoted and on two consoles with many other action options nearing the end of their lives, by a Platinum Games much more unknown.

Bayonetta 2 is treated as a high profile release, with lots of talk surrounding it, already has a fan base, is exclusive, and on a console with less options.

Bayo 1 was plagued with frame rate issues. Bayo 2 is much smoother, looks better and comes with the first game, with issues fixed and free. And Platinum Games is much more beloved now.

The situations the two games are in are sooooo different.

People really consider Bayonetta 2 a system seller? The first game was a niche title. It's a day one buy for me, but I realize that it's not going to move the needle for the Wii U overall.

So Bayonetta was not hyped at all, at the time platinum was not as recognized as today and it managed to sell 2m. I see it as good for a new IP.
Now Bayonetta 2 includes the first one for free, getting a decent hype over the months, is exclusive to a console, platinum has shined in the past and are more respectable, the ip is no longer new and the first one was well received by critics. I see this ip doubling the first one. And no one can say 2m is a flop. Just remember titanfall sold like 3m and it was overhyped ass hell for like 2 years, that to me was a flop.

what numbers could consider bayo a flop?
500k lifetime? 1 mil?


i think it will sell 800k minumum.

its not intended to move a lot of consoles by itself. nintendo is thinking in different ways.
do i like mk8 enough to buy a wii u? no, do i like mk8 an bayo 2 enough 2 buy a wii u? still no? and what about smash, mk8 and bayo 2? yes! its all about staging up. ps4 and xbone cant work this way, because the sell on shortlived 3rd party games. will u buy titanfall if u get a xbone in 2 years? no, will u buy mk8 if u buy a wii u? we know the answer if we look at mk wiis sales. it sold 1.1m last year.

there are different degrees of system sellers. Everybody knows that Bayo 2 won't be MK8 or SSB tier, but will it move consoles and give the Wii U a bit of a boost? I personally expect it to.
