I work at a camp. The kids don't even know Charizard, but they can name every single Mario character. They'd make a shit ton.

They don't know who Charizard is? Those damn kids.. :-/

Smash Bros Anime - epic as the trailers for newcomers, but story driven like Subspace Emissary.

a comedic slice-of-life anime featuring the Smash roster living in a house or something would be amazing.

That's....... an interesting idea actually! I wouldn't mind seeing something like that happen!

The Mario and Luigi one are. I think the problem remains that the inhabitants of the mushroom kingdom still look awful (except for Princess Peach, but she's human). Also, the lack of any fighting scenes or a video of Bowser himself. Why? Because you can't do it in live action. CG film or GTFO.

Live action one could do about 500,000$. Animated it could do 500,000,000$.

Mario games have about 0 history so a movie would just be a milking use the face and brand. Don't think it would do Mario justice.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Perhaps a Disney or Dreamworks type of movie would be a success.

If they do live action, they just need to cast big celebrities. Mark Wahlberg as Mario, Jamie Foxx as Wario, Scarlett Johansson as the Princess, etc. It could be huge!

I feel that Nintendo could start a films division and model itself after Pixar. Not to make video game adaptations, but original content and animated movies. They have the charm to do so imo.

Agree there. History, timelines and personality and stuff are played down for a reason - so Mario can be whatever his fans want him to be and appeal as widely as possible. If they weren't, fan-made interpretations like the 4 Players (linked to earlier in this thread) wouldn't exist. But as soon as an 'official' movie comes out, lore starts to be set in stone, and that can divide the fanbase.

Seems like half of you guys are forgetting about the Paper Mario series, which would be pretty easy to turn into a movie.... Just take the general tone and the writing style from that and make it less video-game-esque and you have an awesome Mario movie
