Forums - Nintendo - WII U surpasses PS4 in japan

Damn... The gap is going to get bigger and bigger as time passes...

I guess Japanese developers will sooner or later jump to Wii U bandwagon.

No not really, PS4 isn't that far off the PS3 that launched during the holiday season. Wii sold way more than Wii-U and the PS3 still became the console of choice for developers in Japan.

Like always Nintendo games sell well on Nintendo consoles, but other developers have a though time selling on them.

Another line crossed by PS4. Selling below Wii U must a shame worst than FFXIII on Xbox360.

Really? Which PS4 games does appeal to the japanese right now?

Yakuza: Ishin, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends

All of these games are already available in PS3, so why do you expect them to buy PS4 to play them when they have PS3? But its not the same case with Wii U which has one year of library and the game they want to play in a week. Still, PS4 selling decently compared to Wii U which has one year of library.

At the same timeframe wiiu is still ahead by 200k+ though, and there was NSMB2 that just came out (though its not the sane game as NSMBU)!!!

It would be good to remember that at the same timeframe, wiiu had already a christmas and a system seller, still, it was doing only 200k more with these 2 big advantages.

PS4 didnt even know it's first christmas and has no system seller.

Vita had Holiday+games :P 3DS had a bad launchm maybe 1 or 2 decent games

Lol no, remember, Vita had no real good system seller, everybody's golf didnt sell so much, but ok it had christmas, but it came after 3DS, that changed everything since it was too late, once people knew about MH on 3DS.

at the opposite, 3DS  had nintendogs and a remake of Ocarina of time helping a lot

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

And isn't this Infamous's release week in Japan?

Wii U without a major release > PS4 with a major release? Wow.

I think this is a bit misleading. It's more like:

WiiU with its (most likely) biggest system seller launching next week statistically ties Ps4 with a minor (for Japanese tastes) release. The wiiu is definitely going to be out of stock this week, so it makes sense for people to buy it the week before to make sure they end up getting one.

Don't system sellers usually move consoles after they come out?

So when is PS4's FF game supposed to release? Late 2015?

Not always. Sometimes the move systems when they are announced (Monster Hunter 4), sometimes a week before launch. There have been several cases that this happened. Nothing springs to mind at the moment, but if it does at some point, I'll edit the post with examples.
