Over half a million on a 1.5 million install base is hardly bombing hard.  SMG2 didn't even sell twice that on a 12 million install base.

only after bundle. Remember FW sales? Yes, flop

I don't recall it having a Japanese bundle.  It launched to 100k sales and sold through the holidays to 455k by the start of the year.

NSMBU, NL & SM3DW.

Nintendo Land? lol no. SM3DW bombed hard in Japan, so no again. NSMBU is a launch and bundle game, so no again.

There is none. Wii U will get Kamen Raider and One Piece someday this year, but they aren't exclusives. So Wii U don't have any game that really appeal to japanese right now. Mario Kart will be the first big hit.

selling 560k (SM3DW) when there is only a usebase of 1.74 million, is anything but bombing. It is not extraodinary sales but it is respectable and indicates that there is an interest in the title. NSMBU was not bundled until Sept 2013. I was able to find numbers from July 2013 and when the Wii U was just of a million sold in Japan (987K), NSMBU had over a 500K sold in that region. Which is a high attach rate, even if it was a launch title (when comparing games on PS4 & Xbox One).

Why do people keep saying that Infamous did nothing? For all we know the ps3 would have sold half of what it did had it not been for Infamous. Or that the reason people bought a ps4 in the first place was Infamous.

Because it most likely didn't do much at all? Historically, the series is completely irrelevant in Japan. Second Son actually beats inFamous 2 only by about 2.5-3k first week in Japan and the second one ended up selling only around 80k lifetime. If infamous is an insignificant franchise in Japan, it makes perfect sense to expect insignificant hardware sales increases, it also very likely has little to no impact on the PS3's lifetime sales in Japan.

And we know this how exactly? As I mentioned in the post you quoted, there are several posibilities. People said the same thing about Metal Gear on ps4 and then we saw sales collapsing after that. Itseems that INfamous didn't do anything, but a) it may have helped it from sinking even lower, b) people who bought a ps4 months ago bought it for Infamous. Even 40k can make a significant difference in hardware as we've seen several times in Japan. There is no way to tell whether it helped sales or not. It'll be interesting to see if ps4 sells worse next week (and by how much).

Well, you're right that we don't know for sure but I'm basing my assumption on the fact that the numbers have been more or less creeping lower and lower every week and it also fell during inFamous week. As the number gets lower, the actual decline in sheer units will stall.

We'll see what kind of figures it puts up next week (this week, technically), if it remains more or less flat or sinks a little bit, we can assume that inFamous had no impact. Let's not forget the measly bump the Wii U got globally from a title as anticipated as Donkey Kong. There is also the outlying factor of Watchdogs though, we don't know how that will affect the numbers so we might have to wait a little longer than one week. Then again; Watchdogs belongs in a genre that never really caught on in Japan compared to the West (not unlike inFamous, come to think of it).
