Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One isn't Number One, but that does not equal 'Doing Terribly.'

Of course it's not a failure to be number two, or even number three, but it sure seems like failure to have excess stock 5 months after launch, to need to give away for free a game you heavily invested in, to practically be DOA in half the countries you launched in, with barely a chance to even make a dent in all others you still haven't launched in. XOne's failure has just begun, but reality will set in when their only two exclusive old tiring franchises also fail to shift consoles barring a massive pricecut/free game combo.
Microsoft will be lucky if it manages to reach original XBox's sales, making this their last console ever.

Xbox one is starting this generation way, way WAY ahead of where PS3 began last generation. Whereas PS3 needed an early price drop just to compete, the X1 is selling solid, though unimpressive numbers.

I'm not sure why I even responded, this is pretty obvious trolling.

Sony financials are improving?  How so?

Yeah SOME people. so what?

But I am the one that posts most finacial news here by far... am I hoping?

Maybe they're... losing money less quickly?

When judged by Microsoft's own goals or that of retail Xbox One has failed miserably.

And which were those goals?

They have openly said they are in it to win it.  They haven't even gotten parity in what should have been their dominant region.

They also said they see the roof of sales at something like 400 million to 1 billion.  http://www.destructoid.com/microsoft-predicts-over-a-billion-next-gen-consoles-sold-254454.phtml

The Flop that Titanfall was.  Even from MS themselves the importance of the game can't be overstated.  “It’s hard to overstate the importance of Titanfall to the Xbox One release this year,” says Yusuf Mehdi, chief marketing and strategy officer for Microsoft’s devices and studios. “For us, it’s a game changer. It’s a system seller.”

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/03/05/electronic-arts-titanfall-is-a-big-deal.aspx  Will show you they spent pretty much Halo money on it.  something like 1.6 billion.

I say.

Cauterizing one's leg is better than bleeding out of it, wouldn't you agree?

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

Didnt read all the posts as in a bit of a rush.

But when people say 'XBox One is selling terribly' I dont assume they means because its selling badly in itself, as its sold very respectable numbers. The problem and what I assume is meant by that sentence is by how by the disparity is between that and its direct competition the PS4. The XBone has been selling well, but it has a pretty wide gap between how much that sold compared to its competion, which is bad for them.

Look at it this way.

[stuff]

Console A "won" 3 out of 4 Weeks, despite losing overall for the Month. Obviously the numbers/ situation is different... But this is how something like that can make sense. Re-read what Vitro is saying. The Xbox One has won several Weeks, despite not "winning" overall. Its been a regular occurence since launch. Nobody is (or should be) surprised to see the Xbox One winning the odd Week in America.

I don't think i was clear in what i meant to say. It isn't the statement itself i don't understand, it's the vein in which he is saying it. If we disregard VGC's numbers (since they have neither been overly reliable, nor, as ethomaz pointed out, do they really back up his claim), and just look at NPD's numbers, we are left with far too many assumptions. It's certainly possible for that particular situation to play out, but saying it's playing out like that on a frequent basis requires far more assumption than actual fact.

As Barozi said, without any hard numbers on the topic it's a pretty pointless topic to discuses.

I was not trolling, just stating my opinion. And nowhere have I even mentioned Playstation, I have no idea why you would bring it into this and try to stir trouble.

XOne is a console of interest here, not some ozlther console from another manufacturer from a decade ago.

XBox is doing awfully, they have invested a billion into games, a hundred million into a controller, who knows how many hundreds of millions into Kinect, and I still haven't gotten to the console itself. And all they have to show for is giving away free games, slashing prices left and right, and hundreds of thousands of unsold stock gathering humidity in various warehouses.

Sure MS will sugarcoat any public relations message, but the fact is that they must be very dissatisfied with the consoles performance, losing marketshare in only two territories they ever had a competing chance, and being pushed into irrelevance in all other markets. That's why I think what I've written.

I took a picture from the VGC numbers... can you see where Xbone "frequently sold more"?

Welp.

Thats what happens when you dont check the numbers.

With glee? yeah that would be hate.

But nothing compared to the very real hate MS gets here for everything it does from quite a number of people (not just xbox related... everything). Its rampant, consistent and at times hysterical.

This thread is a small example.  Someone dares to say something that isnt negative (its not even that positive really) about the ONE and it is immediately jumped on.

I'll leave it there though, its impossble to have a balanced and reasonable discussion here about ONE sales.  Its just all digs, smileys and sarcasm.  Boring.

To be fair EVER one of the Big 3 gets some type of hate ALL the time no matter what they do from posters here. And it very easy to have balanced and reasonable discussion, just don't reply to the people that you know can't have a civil conversation. That's what I have come to learn anyway. And this person didn't really get jumped on at all. It was just that some of the information he posted was incorrect and that got "tackled" so to speak. Many posters agreed with some of the stuff he said and also felt that the XB1 was not doing bad.Could it be doing better? Of course! Do there seem to be some issues? Sure! Does that spell doom? Nah it is way to early in the generation for that. MS just made quite a few mistakes coming out of the gate BUT with their core focus on games now I think the XB1 will do better in time and with a price cut. It is quite simple to have good discussion just don't feed into the negativity...

Side note....there is also nothing wrong with a few digs here and there in the name of sport and fun lol. Some people just go over board and get out of hand IMO.

It's going to outsell the glorious SNES which should be good enough!
