About Wii Fit U: As I have previously stated, Wii Fit U is a VERY different beast than Wii Fit and everybody (especially Nintendo) knows it. First off, Wii Fit U was heavily pushed as a digital game with free trials and such. The physical part of the package is the Wii Fit meter which to my knowledge, is not tracked. What is tracked is the retail game which you have essentially no reason to buy and Nintendo doesn't want you to buy. Nintendo has from the start, wanted you to buy the Wii Fit Meter.

While it is obvious this game will not sell like the original, we will never know the sales unless Nintendo releases their data on how many Wii Fit Meters they have sold. Until then, we have next to nothing.

Finally, a point I made previously is that Nintendo knows certain games don't tend to have continued success as franchises. Look at Brain Training as well as Wii Fit U. Neither of these games were advertised despite both of their predecessors selling loads. This is because Nintendo knows that the marketing budget will not be returned like it was previously.

These games were not created to sell millions, they were created to fill a gap, please a small market and make a little bit of money.

I actually expected wiiu to be 5k, so 8k as baseline is above my expectations. One thing i don't get is why would anyone wait to this day to get wii fit when they could get the wii fit u bundle since last november.

By the way, Dk will release in the same week as PS4, rigth?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

What year did PSP start outselling the DS in Japan?

I don't think its that out the blue to expect Vita to do the same, be it this year or more than likely next.

Regarding Wii U, its becoming quite clear that it'll mirror the 64/GC in Japan.

It'll have strong weeks for big releases and decent holiday but outside of that it'll be below 10k on a weekly basis.

It needs 3rd party support, Zelda Warriors is a step in the right direction for this market but it needs some otaku friendly titles - not sure if I praised thats correctly but in other words, games like Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost. Did GC or Wii ever get those types of games?

On a more positive note for Wii U I just noticed NSMBU has crossed the million mark, partly bundled yes but people did buy the bundle for that game so I still find that rather impressive for a console with a 1.5m userbase and even more impressive considering that only 2 PS3 titles (FFXIII and Resi 5) managed to achieve the same milestone.

Also I never knew that DKC on Wii sold over a million in Japan. Look back to the SNES also shows that the series seems very popular in Japan so maybe it'll boost Wii U there more than most expect. 150k opening for the game?

That comment was meant to be sarcastic. Those Wii Fit U numbers are  actually decent considering the WiiU's less than steallar sales in Japan.

Surprised to see Vita still above 20k. Probably won't be next week though.
