3ds just need some big game and it will sale much more then now
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

9 of the top 20 are 3ds, and 12 of the top 30 are 3ds, 2 of the top 20 are vita, 4 of the top 30 are vita, the 3ds is still, at it worst, outselling the vita by almost 2-1, vita at it best. People here saying the 3ds is tanking, and vita is doing very well... Vita sells more 3rd party games, how? It's still being blown away by 3ds, the 3ds has almost 50% of the top 20 and 30, while the vita stumbles in with 2-3 here and there? What are some of you people on, seriously?! That's like trying to say the wiiu is doing great in America, because it's selling 20,000 a week! C'mon, let's keep it real, for real!

Why are you comparing Wii Fit FW sales in Japan with worldwide LTD figures?
The final Wii Fit figure in Japan, that we have at the moment, is 3.6m.
Nevertheless, if you want to do first week to LTD comparisons:
Wii Fit Japan LTD sales / Wii Fit Japan FW sales = 3,598,607 / 252,510 = 14.25
Wii Fit U Japan FW sales * 14.25 = 6,560 * 14.25 = 93,489.
It's going to take more than legs to save this game.
(Though, there's something weird going on with that Famitsu number. They've got 86,796 LTD sales for it. No idea what's going on there).
There's a number of reasons for the ridiculously low FW figures of Wii Fit U, and they're all very valid, but I don't think "LEGZ" is one of them.

It's simply a matter of perception. If you look at the market this time last year, 3DS was selling 9x what Vita was selling. Fast forward to now, and 3DS is selling 1.7x what Vita is selling.
3DS has undoubtedly been the dominant force in Japanese gaming since the end of 2011. It's a handheld in the land of handhelds. It has had pretty much every single Nintendo franchise which moves hardware. It has the two biggest third-party IP's in Japan locked down in Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest. Objectively, it has so much going for it in this region.
Comparatively, Vita has never been a force to be reckoned with in Japan. Aside from being a handheld in the land of handhelds, it has had a small number of relatively-niche first party games (since Sony doesn't own any IP's which do well in Japan aside from Gran Turismo). The biggest games on the console have been God Eater (a multi-plat with PSP); Persona 4 (a remake of a PS2 game); Toukiden (a multi-plat with PSP); Final Fantasy X HD (a remake of a PS2 game) & Hatsune Miku (a multi-plat with PS3).
Vita isn't doing well, and 3DS isn't doing poorly. But to see Vita be so "relatively" close to 3DS in sales, especially if you were watching Media Create this time last year, is a sight to behold. Things could be so much better for it, but considering you couldn't escape the "Vita is dead" posts last year, it's not quite the trainwreck it was anymore and looks like it will be able to maintain a healthy level of sales for the foreseeable future.

Far worse than that of Wii's last years. As Iwata would say: Please take a look http://dengekionline.com/soft/schedule/ select WiiU and start crying. Please understand. Then make yourself a favour and check the PS3 release schedule. For a soon to be replaced console, the lineup is STELLAR. Hence, the reason why PS3 is still selling a good amount of consoles and why the Wii U is dying as days go by. Nintendo should be FUCKING ashamed. No 3rd party will ever make a game for their home consoles again. Simply having MK8 and SSB4 and nothing else for 12 months will not save the console. PS4 will take over Japan. Why? Just because 3rd parties will be all over it. Wii U will be dead. Why? Because the console has actually no games and has about nothing announced for people to look forwards to. Why would anyone choose a Wii U over a PS4? There is absolutely no reason. Unless you are OK by playing Nintendo games and 3 to 4 a year (assuming you like those 4 games) |
That's cold.. but there is a lot of truth in what you said. For a while now I have been thinking that the only people who will buy the wii u are Nintendo diehard fans. Considering the price and the amount of time it has been on the market many of those fans are still not showing up.
I honestly don't think MK8 and SSB will shift the number of consoles that many fans are dreaming about. Same as Wii Fit U. The Wii sold those games last gen. People wanted a Wii and they wanted games to play on it so they snatched them up.
Now no one wants a Wii U. The question is how many people that bought those games last time around still have enough interest in them to buy a wii u just to play them. I fear not many. Time will tell.
Iwata is clueless as what to do or rather, needs more time to come up with a solution so is just throwing all kinds of ideas out there to stay relevant.
I would have argued against it long and hard a month or so back but now I am thinking it is best to cut their losses and think of scrapping the wii u. Build a better system based on it to reduce cost and developement issues with devs and move on.
Wait and see how the titles being released over the next few months perform and make a decision. Which ever road they choose is a rough one. I wish them all luck.
"Nintendo president Satoru Iwata believes that Wii Fit U is going to be the title that finally puts the Wii U on the map."
"By making Wii Fit U free for a month, Nintendo hopes that many of these daily Balance Board users will choose to upgrade to the Wii U console. "By using the pre-release trial version as a catalyst, we will strive to create and disseminate buzz, and ultimately turn it into an enduring bestseller," he adds."
Iwata is living in delusional land.
[WIU] Wii Fit U - 6.560

I know someone's going to play up the free trial, but I doubt free trial downloads were anything to crow about as Iwata didn't utter a peep about it in the Q3 briefing.
The Wii ____ line of games was a fad just like Guitar Hero, it's time to accept it.

GTA5 was the top selling console game of 2013. Your point is invalid.
Vita is doing decently in Japan, I'd like to say same worldwide. WiiU shall wait for DKC and MK8.
the rest is unexciting, Disgaea 4 doing great for a 2yo remake too!

Casual games are dead in Japan like usual. |
That was expected. After all, WiiU owners had more than 2 months to get this game..... for free......
We would need tha Fit Meter sales to see exactely how many people actually got this game, but I bet it´s not many, anyway
