End of 2015. Nintendo got the Gamecube down to $99 pretty quickly.

read

I did. Did you?

Me: price cut to 199 should be on 2015

him: "you think the price will be 149 in 2015?"

got it or do I need to draw?

I gave you an explanation as to how I thought that. Which is what you were questioning. I see you similarly disrespect others English (when it's fine and comprehensible) when at the very same time it's you making the mistake (you do the same with sales predictions).

Don't turn to drawing, your words are hilarious enough :P

gosh, I'm gonna explain slowly:

I SAID THE PRICE CUT TO 199 DOLLARS SHOULD WAIT TILL 2015.

THE OTHER GUY SOMEHOW THOUGHT I WAS SAYING THE PRICE WOULD BE 149 IN 2015.

I AM NOT QUESTIONING IF IT IS POSSIBLE OR NOT FOR NINTENDO TO CUT THE PRICE.

was it clear now? because it seems it always takes so much explanation for you to (sometimes) understand such simple matters. again, read first.

Price is the least problematic part of the situation.

There are two things Nintendo needs to address properly - awareness, and games. They have started addressing both, but neither one is properly addressed, yet.

One thing I think Nintendo should do is consider modifying the Wii U logo, at least in their advertising. Right now, it looks like Wii with a box next to it. This could be contributing to the idea that it's a Wii add-on. If they came up with a variant of the logo that had the U in the same font as "Wii", and then had it morph into the current logo after that, it might make it clearer that it's not the Wii.

As for games, I've said it before - the main thing holding the Wii U back is the lack of a game that is proof-of-concept for the system. Wii had Wii Sports. The Wii U lineup has more in common with the Gamecube, in that it has some top-notch games, but nothing to really prove that the system is worth owning instead of or in addition to the PS2/PS4. Nintendo needs that defining title, something that makes the system a must-have. Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros aren't likely to do this (unless some really remarkable use of the gamepad is created for Smash). Games like NintendoLand and Wonderful 101 hint towards what such a game would look like, but neither one gets there. Hopefully, Nintendo has something up their sleeves for this year. And hopefully, they're revealing it to third parties now, to show them that they shouldn't write the Wii U off.

I don't think they need such a drastic price drop. They are probably making money with the bundles they have right now, and they could afford to offer a 250 console without games, and maybe a Mario Kart 8 bundle at 250 by the end of the year. That alone could make wonders, they could also cut the online support of Mario Kart Wii, to push players to purchase the new one.

I think Nintendo could manage to eat the losses.

That doesn't mean they should.

Well, we dont know exactly why Nintendo is not breaking even. Seems the logical reason is inventory.

If thats the case, them cutting the price to 199 would be better than having them in the warehouse making 0. It would definitly reduce the ammount of losses.
But, if it catches on and becomes sucessful then Nintendo has another problem, wich is that they will be losing money on new systems ordered. If you ask me, they would be better off with problem #2.

Nintendo is already taking a loss at $300 and they're bundling their best selling titles with it. Getting it down to $200 would be way too low right now. Unless of course they get rid of that tablet thing and just bundle the pro controller. Besides, I don't think price is an issue. It's already the cheapest next gen console out there. It needs games first and foremost.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I've seen the Wii U on sale for $199 (including the Skylander bundle) numerous times and customers still weren't picking it up.

I personally think Nintendo will need more than just a price cut.

Hmm, not sure about the Skylander bundle.  But anytime the bundle with mario went on sale for 270-280 out the door (equivalent to 250), they would sell out right away (ebay, best buy, etc.) on the deal sites.  4K units at a time sometimes.  Sure, not PS4 numbers, but people seem to want the Wii U for 250.

I think Nintendo needs to work with retailers to offer rebates and kickbacks.  Everyone likes a sale, and at 250 they seem to be buying the Wii U.  I think 199 is too low and too soon.

Maybe they should redo the system box art, bundles, etc. and start calling the system the Nintendo U.  Drop the Wii nomenclature.

Really, I think Nintendo needs to open up some VC titles to smartphones.  I think I echo some other users on here that it's time for them to quit guarding some 20 year old IPs, and start really making money on them.  The more exposure that Nintendo IP can get the better.  And they can even advertise for U games in those IPs.  It's like getting paid to advertise to 100+ million potential users... win win.

That is the last thing Nintendo should do, if anything they shpuld raise the price, they should sell the thing with a profit.

Its already selling badly. Simple economics tells us that rasing the price will see even lower sales.

Yes, but 300k with 10 dollars loss on each unit equals 3 million dollars loss.

100k with 10 dollars profit equals a million in profits.

Hurray for proofit =D
