Didn't Yoshiba said PS4 caches (?) games rather than installing them using memory for each individual game? If thats true, it makes this OP's point moot

Digital games will still need to be installed. Also that cache will need to be free space on the HDD further limiting storage space

Digitial games wont no where near as big as retail games.

And yes you need free extra space on HDD but lets say for argument sake that every game in next gen will be 50GB big. You'll only need those 50GB to install game from your 500GB HDD, meaning you'll have 450GB free for digital games/videos/music/pictures/save data...

I am sorry to bring this up. My only reason is to let gamers know how biased they are to respect to one company or the other (the big 3).

When Wii U came out last november with an 8GB and 32GB of Flash Memory, it was bombarded with critism because of the small capacity of memory. Now next gen games size have been announced to be way above 30GB per game with obligatory installation. Around 16 games of about 30GB can be installed in the 500GB hard drive inside XBOX ONE and PS4, without counting how much space the operating systems on those consoles will take. Realize that one of them is a derivative of Windows 8.

Add 1TB of external hard drive for $70 (really cheap but still good quality) and $50 for the online subscription. And I am not adding one game $60 that none of the consoles bring with them inside the box. You will probably say, 16 games is too much for launch I can live with that. Well, you are right in the fact that there is not enough games on any of the two consoles to fill that hard drive at launch. The same thing happened with the Wii U, yet you enthusiastically suggest people to buy an external hard drive when the Wii U was just left in shame because of the same reason, and also that the Wii U had no games at launch.

Now, keep in mind. This thread is not because I am a hater of any of the consoles. I have nothing to do with consoles I don't own or will ever own. I just want to point out that simple fact, how the bar is set high for Nintendo when others just crouch with no major noise. I will suggest to drop that "console war" that only bring discord to the community.

Have a nice gaming session.

The PS4 doesn't have "installs". It's going to use a temp cache. Once you play a different game, that cache is auto deleted. So technically, as long as you have 50GB of space, you're good.

Well, I already have a 1TB hard drive. It sits inside my PS3 and I think I'm just gonna swap it with the 500GB Drive inside the PS4. Oh, and my PS Plus is also valid until august 2015, so I'm good, thanks.

Yeah, if you have absolutely nothing, you will likely spend a little more. But that's true for every console. Back in the days, we bought memory cards. Now we're buying HDDs. So what?

it is enough for me to have only maybe 5 games installed at the same time (those which i play then) so no prob for me

In my country the PS4 is $549 + $70 (PS+) + $70 (HDD) = $689 as long as you only play FTP & PS+ games.

X1 is $579 + $80 (Live) + $70 (HDD) = $729 with FIFA 14.

Neither are good value yet but for the record the PS3 was $1000 here lol.

Even the Wii U is $428 here. I only got one because my local store was selling them for $299 with ZombiU back in March and I had a spare external HDD lying around.

Don't you think there's a difference between the MS and Sony situations in which you can install 10 or more games until you have to manage things versus he WiiU situation where you have 4 gigs once you factor in that initial update?

Seems like false equivalence to me.

Yet pretending every model is the 8gig model isnt?

I'm comparing the lowest amount on one to the lowest amount on the other.  As I recall people were mostly complaining about the 8gb version of the WiiU.   Of course you could get the more expensive version, but then the OP is ging to have to include that in his price estimations.

Please explain though how that would be false equivalence, though, what two things did I define as equal that actually aren't?

...

Considering they need to install DISC versions of games, criticism should fall completely on ps4 and xone, since wii u won't require an external HD unless you go digital.

People who bought PS3 early on have this same problem. 60 and 80 GB models ended up being too small to sustain people who download titles or even play a lot of store bought games because of giant patches. It isn't really that big of a deal. Delete stuff every once in a while that only warrants 1 playthrough. I've dealt with it and it has not really been all that bad on my gaming experience. The only time I have had issues with it is when a PS+ game is 15+GB and I don't have many things I want to delete at that moment, but this is rare. The fact that it is 80GB and not 500GB has never stopped me from being able to game exactly as I want.  RROD from MS...That is a different story.  My experiencie with several aspects of 360 this gen has surely made it so I will either skip XB1 or wait for multiple price drops.

No really, Wii U doesn't need obligatory installation. Yet, Wii U final price with the external hard drive is way bellow the PS4 with 1 one game and the online subscription. People said the $399 was the nail in the coffin, yet it is not the real cost of the console.

You're having a lot of trouble seeing the fact people find there's more value in one package than the other package.

$400 is the real cost of the console. You don't need to get any of the other things, and the optional PS+ is another thing that people want to pay because of all the games that come along with it.

Not exactly. I will need PS+ to play online. I will need a game that isnt included. I will need the camera to get full functionality.

Here they do have a valid point and you are pulling up nonsense in order to dismiss it. A console with nothing to play is pretty useless so to claim you dont need anything else is a bit silly and honestly shows their point is so valid, you cant find a reasonable argument against it

But none of these things are required. You could go the entire generation without it. (you could even just go with F2P games, not that you'd want to). at including the camera though. Several million 360 owners never connected their 360s to Live or the internet, I don't think regret their purchase.

This level of spin just makes you look bad.
