People who bought PS3 early on have this same problem. 60 and 80 GB models ended up being too small to sustain people who download titles or even play a lot of store bought games because of giant patches. It isn't really that big of a deal. Delete stuff every once in a while that only warrants 1 playthrough. I've dealt with it and it has not really been all that bad on my gaming experience. The only time I have had issues with it is when a PS+ game is 15+GB and I don't have many things I want to delete at that moment, but this is rare. The fact that it is 80GB and not 500GB has never stopped me from being able to game exactly as I want.  RROD from MS...That is a different story.  My experiencie with several aspects of 360 this gen has surely made it so I will either skip XB1 or wait for multiple price drops.
