Don't you think there's a difference between the MS and Sony situations in which you can install 10 or more games until you have to manage things versus he WiiU situation where you have 4 gigs once you factor in that initial update?

Seems like false equivalence to me.

This and there are methods in place to make installing as painless as possible.

Not to mention, a lot of people are angry and lashing out about it. Me included!

Yes sir, you are right. But the final price of the console are way above what people expected when Sony said the console cost only $399.

The Wii U is in so way valuless for the price is it right now.

It is $399, the rest is not obligated is it?

WiiU may be of value to you, but you can't speak for everybody out there. For me, there is no value in WiiU, but that's just down to taste.

Even so, $300 is a lot for WiiU and a game IMO, when PS4 is so much more powerful and feature heavy for only $100 more.

No really, Wii U doesn't need obligatory installation. Yet, Wii U final price with the external hard drive is way bellow the PS4 with 1 one game and the online subscription. People said the $399 was the nail in the coffin, yet it is not the real cost of the console.

Ok, well 16 full games is still more than the wii u holds. I just dowbloaded re revelations today and it took half the space with one game. Storage is a big issue this gen, but nintendo definitely skimped out more than the other two.

I am focusing on price. Even if you buy the external hard drive with the WIi U at the same time, the price is well bellow both other two consoles.

indeed it is, my WiiU have a 3Tb  HDD (toshiba) i pay for both items 379.99

34 years playing games.

There's a fine line between supplied memory and lacking features entirely that have been industry standard since 2001.

yes, this.

...i really though six+ months ago i was going to go digital distribution but if i have to download (and re-download) 40+ Gb game i think i may just go back to discs.  thats just too much data to fly under my internet caps reliably.

@OP.   10-16 games vs. no-1 game....

Honestly, its kind of a silly argument to make.  The vast majority of people will probably buy less than 16 titles in the lifetime of the console.  Attach rates for this gen, which is the longest gen ever, is around 10.  The only console that doesnt have enough storage to store the average persons lifetime library of games is the wii u.

Also, of course the ps4 and x1 are more expensive, does that really even need to be said?

The sticker price is really what matters for sales though, I think you'd have a difficult time proving that extraneous costs are taken into account for most people's purchases.  This means that the HDD doesn't really affect the WiiU price because most people don't think about it, and the same with paid online for MS and Sony.

But I still think that the WiiU HDD situation is no where near equivalent with the PS4 or 360.  It's just a ridiculous claim.

...

At least we can upgrade the ps4 and u can't upgrade the x1 hard drive.you still need more memory or USB hard drive for the wiiu

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

I don't think consumers care about the price because of third party support, which the Wii U doesn't/won't have. It's not getting any sport games, Destiny, Battlefield, The Division, Dying Light, and a crap load of future third party games. And if people don't want to upgrade, they won't go out a buy a Wii U, they'll just stick with their current gen console, which will get more third party support than the Wii U.

why did not both companies put a 50GB hard drive inside the consoles to bring the cost down, so people could decide what size to get. Cost is really high.
