Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Can Nintendo pump out 1 Wii U exclusive per month in 2014 ?

Could be their plan. Let's do some counting on the announced games, and then add some that will probably come:

2-  X Monolith

2 - Smash Bros.

3 - Donkey Kong (got delayed right ?)

4 - Bayonetta 2

5 - Mario Kart 8

6 - Fire Emblem x SMT

7 - Yarn Yoshi

8 - 3rd party exclusive (Devil's Third most likely)

9 - Hyrule Warriors

Likely coming:

10 -  Wii Sports Club retail disc with all sports (ideal for summer)

11,12 - Likely minor projects, compared to the large scale of Tokyo EAD and Retro Studios. Stuff like Pandora's Tower or Forgotten Memories. Maybe download only titles ala Dillon, or Tetris. But still relevant enough to add value to the line up.

I think this is Nintendo "oh shit" plan, since the wii u sales gotta improve no matter what in 2014, otherwise the console will be officialy a Gamecube 2.

They seem to be able to do it with the 3ds... Why not with the wiiU? I do think 2014 will be the year of the wiiU but who knows

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Sure, if you count smaller stuff.

Nintendo probably won't be able to do this alone now if they bought capcom and sega maybe

That's a bad idea, I remember Sony doing that back in 2011 for the PS3. They had a game come out almost every month, and half of them ended up bombing because of the lack of advertising. Nintendo shouldn't spread themselves too thin.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Problem is Nintendo doesn't have much third party SW so it's probably the best idea going forward.

They need to be more inventive with their marketing footprint. Whatever game comes out first next year (Donkey Kong?) they need to include a small leaflet with all upcoming WiiU games and offer some incentive.

I think we are likely to see a SEGA collaboration. Not so sure about poorcom. Also, we may see something out of Mistwalker. Another Last Story would be sweet.

If Nintendo can pull this off, Wii U might be king of exclusives for 2014, compared to the lackluster exclusive rooster for each one of the other consoles.

you can count yoshi's yarn as well.

Hopefully they can churn out at least one game for the system each month

Er??

Titanfall, PVZ Garden Warfare, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5 and Fable Legends goes toe to toe with those Nintendo games. Hardly lackluster ...

Sure, but on the other hand, Nintendo pulled this off to great success in 2007. Almost every single month that year, a Nintendo published game came out. Wii Play, Wario Ware, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Sluggers, Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars II, Super Mario Galaxy. It was a pretty stacked year, honestly. And almost every one of those games wound up selling at least a million or more.

I don't know, but I'm still hoping Zelda comes out by Dec. 2014. If they've got a huge enough team working on it, which they should, it can happen. I think we'll get at least 2 or 3 suprise games, maybe nothing "MEGATON", but surely significant. I'm also still hoping for some Star Fox and Wave Race action. As in GOOD new entries in those games (not that there's ever been a bad Wave Race....but Star Fox.......*sigh*).

By the way, the OP forgot to mention Yarn Yoshi, which is bound to be awesome, as well as the third, as yet unannounced exclusive Sonic-based game. There were three games mentioned in the deal, all for Wii U. Hopefully this one is the best one.
