Nintendo is always slapping those that say blu ray size discs are needed in the face with their schlongs.

But WiiU discs are the same size as Bluray.

I know, but just because there is the option doesn't mean you have to use it all.

Just pointing out how so many gamers say that blu ray size is NEEDED.  And how some games could not be done without that size.

Just look at the best looking PC games out htere.  They can all fit on DVD's still.  And those games look better than any console game.

That's because the cutscenes are compressed to hell and back. Quality is absolutely shitty. To get cutscenes in an acceptable quality you actually have to rip them off PS3 games (dat 25GB BluRay).

Take Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for example

Cutscenes are what take most of the place on a disk, the actual game usually is FAR smaller.

Pokemon X and Y are each 1.7GB. Im quite surprised at this being the same size.

Dat over thousand Pokemon models (Male/Female + Mega) in X/Y.

Modern games take up so much space usually due to pre rendered cut scenes.

But just 1.7?!?! That's pretty dang impressive.

a little more compression and it would fit on gamecube discs.

To accomodate someone. Those, people, you know. The not-Nintendo people. The ones that claim Nintendo never does anything for them.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

"only"?!

Data size does not equal game size. It all about the compression used in the disc. They could just aswell not compress the game and give you say a 5GB game that is exactly the same size. Except if its smaller, its faster to manufacture.

Besides, 1.7GB isnt bad at all.

You can get 4 hours of video in perfect 1080p for 5 GB if you encode correctly. No need for 50 gigs.

1080p Textures take a lot of place.

Any of u considered dialogue? Mario games barely have any... That as well helps to keep GB low.
