If Switch matches last year's numbers this week on, it's gonna end up at 4.3-4.4m for the year in Japan. 5m seems out of reach but wouldn't it be amazing?? Everything else is just disappointing ...

    Best Luigi's Mansion game

in Nintendo Discussion on 26 November 2019

I need to get my hands on 3. LM1 and LM2 are both great for different reasons. Generally I liked LM1 more despite feeling that LM2 was a better game functionally, but the separate stages of LM2 let it down and I felt LM1 had a better atmosphere, which gave a more lasting impact in my mind. While I cannot comment on LM3, the studio seem to have learned their lessons from the previous game...

What's the worst successor to a console, ever?

in Gaming Discussion on 15 November 2019

N64 had a devastating impact on Nintendo's home consoles by: 1. Primarily being the reason the PS1 existed, and 2. Flocking away third party support. The Wii U though was a failure as a console PERIOD. Probably the worst branded console in history and failed to really do anything apart from inspiring the Switch concept. And that's where it's tough. Without the Wii U, I doubt the...

Pokemon is finally flexing a bit. It now looks like it has a shot at 700 points which going by recent sales ratio might be enough for 1.5m FW on a higher price point game and system. Obviously this is a personal estimation but Let's go did 600k FW on 280 points ...

Not to take anything away from Switch's success (it'll easily sell more lifetime in Japan than any PS system), but isn't it a bit much to argue that Switch Lite is a home console? Famitsu Sales: Week 43, 2019 (Oct 21 - Oct 27)

in Sales Discussion on 31 October 2019

Switch might be in contention for the best ever year for a home console in Japan. Please someone correct me on this, but I believe the PS2 sold 4.3-4.4m units in 2001, and looking at the trajectory from last year where the Switch managed to sell 1.6 m units from this point onwards, 4.5m for the year is not out of question with Pokemon, Ringfit, Luigi's Mansion and Mario Maker giving it a big a...
